    Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, said on Sunday that the United States is ready for diplomacy with Iran; at the same time, the U.S. military began its ninth consecutive night of attacks.

    Before departing for Manila, where he is set to attend the ASEAN summit, Rubio told reporters, "The United States is always ready to reach a diplomatic solution. We have tried several times with Iran and will continue our efforts. If that door opens, we will be happy to see it."

    Rubio criticized Iran for attacking ships and obstructing the Strait of Hormuz. The agreement that the U.S. and Iran reached in June was aimed at expanding the ceasefire and resuming traffic in this key waterway.

    Rubio stated, "If they violate the terms of this agreement, they cannot expect it to remain in effect." He added, "They continue to send messages that they want to talk and negotiate, but what we respond to is their behavior, and their behavior is launching missiles and drones against ships, including tonight."
