Witkoff: Trump has set Iran's red lines as zero enrichment and seizure of enriched uranium stockpile
While nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington over key issues have yet to reach a conclusion and everyone is waiting for Tehran's proposed plan, Steve Witkoff, the U.S. Special Envoy, reiterated that Donald Trump's clear red lines are zero enrichment and the seizure of Iran's enriched uranium stockpile.
In his latest interview, Steve Witkoff also mentioned that Donald Trump, the President of the United States, is "curious" to know why the Islamic Republic has not yet "surrendered" despite increasing pressures and the prominent presence of the U.S. Navy in the region.
On Saturday, February 21, in an interview with Fox News, Mr. Witkoff explained: "Before we went there, the President set the direction for me and Jared and stated the red lines, which are: zero enrichment, and that we must retrieve the [enriched nuclear] materials from Iran."
He referred to the officials of the Islamic Republic, saying: "They claim everything about their program is civilian, but in practice, they have enriched far beyond what is necessary for civilian nuclear energy; up to 60 percent. They are probably just a week away from reaching industrial-grade materials suitable for bomb-making, and that is really dangerous. So I cannot accept this, and they have to deal with my [position] until they prove to us that they can behave acceptably."
In response to a question about the status of the red lines that the United States has regarding Tehran, Steve Witkoff said: "The President asked me about this just this morning, and he — I don't want to use the word 'frustrated'... because he knows there are many options, but... he is curious why they still... have not surrendered. Why, under such pressure, with this level of naval power and the Navy we have there, have they not come forward to say we declare we do not want weapons and these are the actions we are ready to take; and it can be said, it is somewhat difficult to get them to that point."
Continuing the conversation on Sunday with Fox News, the network's reporter referred to Prince Reza Pahlavi, stating that he has "outlined relatively clear steps regarding how he sees the power transition happening there. Has he played any role in any of this? Have you had a conversation with him?"
Witkoff replied: "I have seen him; at the President's request. In fact, you know, this topic is public and has been raised. I think he is a strong individual for his country and cares about his country. But here we are talking about President Trump's policies, not Mr. Pahlavi. I think the President is interested in hearing everyone's views."

در حالی که گفتوگوهای هستهای میان تهران و واشینگتن بر سر مسائل کلیدی هنوز به جایی نرسیده و همه در انتظار طرح پیشنهادی تهران هستند، استیو ویتکاف، فرستادۀ ویژۀ ایالات متحده، بار دیگر تأکید کرد که خطوط قرمز روشنِ مورد نظر دونالد ترامپ غنیسازی صفر و ضبط ذخیره اورانیوم غنیشده ایران است.
استیو ویتکاف همچنین در تازهترین مصاحبه خود میگوید دونالد ترامپ، رئیسجمهور آمریکا، «کنجکاو» است بداند چرا حکومت جمهوری اسلامی با وجود فشارهای فزاینده و حضور پررنگ نیروی دریایی آمریکا در منطقه هنوز «تسلیم» نشده است.
آقای ویتکاف روز شنبه دوم اسفند در گفتوگو با فاکس نیوز توضیح داد: «رئیسجمهور پیش از اینکه ما برویم آنجا، برای من و جَرد جهت را مشخص کرد و خط قرمزها را گفت که عبارتند از: غنیسازی صفر، و اینکه باید مواد [هستهای غنیسازیشده در ایران] را پس بگیریم.»
او با اشاره به مقامهای جمهوری اسلامی گفت: «آنها میگویند همهچیز دربارهٔ برنامهشان غیرنظامی است، اما در عمل خیلی فراتر از میزانی که برای انرژی هستهایِ غیرنظامی لازم است غنیسازی کردهاند؛ تا ۶۰ درصد. احتمالاً فقط یک هفته با رسیدن به مواد در حد صنعتیِ مناسبِ ساخت بمب فاصله دارند و این واقعاً خطرناک است. پس من نمیتوانم این را بپذیرم و مجبورند با همین [موضع من] کنار بیایند تا وقتی به ما ثابت کنند میتوانند رفتار قابلقبولی داشته باشند.»
استیو ویتکاف در پاسخ به پرسشی درباره وضعیت خط قرمزهایی که ایالات متحده در قبال تهران دارد گفت: «رئیسجمهور این را همین صبح از من پرسید، و او — نمیخواهم از واژهٔ «کلافه» استفاده کنم… چون میداند گزینههای زیادی دارد، اما… کنجکاو است که چرا آنها هنوز... تسلیم نشدهاند. چرا زیر چنین فشاری، با این میزان توان دریایی و نیروی دریایی که ما آنجا داریم، نیامدهاند بگویند ما اعلام میکنیم که سلاح نمیخواهیم و این کارهایی است که آمادهایم انجام بدهیم؛ و میشود گفت، بهنوعی سخت است آنها را به آن نقطه رساند.»
در ادامه گفتوگوی روز شنبۀ استیو ویتکاف با فاکس نیوز، خبرنگار این شبکه با اشاره به شاهزاده رضا پهلوی گفت که او «گامهای نسبتاً روشنی را دربارهٔ اینکه از نگاه او گذار قدرت چگونه میتواند آنجا رخ بدهد ترسیم کرده است. آیا او در هیچکدام از اینها نقشی داشته؟ شما با او گفتوگویی داشتهاید؟»
ویتکاف در جواب گفت: «من او را دیدهام؛ به دستور رئیسجمهور. در واقع، میدانید، این موضوع علنی است و مطرح شده. فکر میکنم او برای کشورش فردی قوی است و به کشورش اهمیت میدهد. اما اینجا حرف سر سیاستهای رئیسجمهور ترامپ است، نه آقای پهلوی. فکر میکنم رئیسجمهور علاقهمند است دیدگاههای همه را بشنود.»
