    On Tuesday, August 6, Reuters reported, citing a knowledgeable source in the Persian Gulf, that Oman has proposed the establishment of a joint regional mechanism with voluntary fees or transit costs for managing the Strait of Hormuz to Iran.

    According to this unnamed source, Oman's proposal is supported by regional countries and, based on it, Iran will not have exclusive control over this vital waterway.

    This proposal is modeled after the management of the Strait of Malacca between Malaysia and Indonesia, where passage through this waterway is accompanied by voluntary payments that fund navigation, environmental protection, and search and rescue operations.

    Oman has previously stated officially that it does not agree with the management of the Strait of Hormuz in the way Iran desires and will adhere to international laws.

    Iranian officials had earlier confirmed that they had held discussions with Omani officials regarding the management of the Strait of Hormuz. The spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry emphasized on Monday that the only negotiation Iran is currently involved in is with Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

    Ghaem Hosseini, Amirhossein Maleki, and Ali Dashti, the defendants in the Ali Khani Square case in Isfahan, are on the verge of execution. The families of these protesters have been asked to visit the prison for a final meeting.
