🔸Reports and images received from Iran indicate that during the memorial ceremony for the victims of the protests in December, thousands gathered at the graves of the victims of the widespread killings by the Islamic Republic's security forces, commemorating their memory while chanting slogans against the authorities of the Islamic Republic. Simultaneously, the institutions of the Islamic Republic held government ceremonies in Tehran and some other cities to commemorate the fortieth day of the deceased protesters on January 18 and 19, attended by government officials and selected individuals.
    @VahidHeadline

🔸On Wednesday, February 29, the CEO of Behesht Zahra Organization stated that during the December protests, the bodies of 1,124 victims were brought to this cemetery in Tehran, claiming that this number is "the entry to Behesht Zahra, not the death toll of Tehran." Mohammad Javad Tajik said, "Some of these individuals were killed in other counties, and since their residence was in Tehran, they were buried in Behesht Zahra. For example, from Alborz province and some northern provinces, a total of 31 bodies came from other provinces. Some of the bodies were also from the surrounding counties of Tehran." He also announced that 613 corpses were sent to the surrounding counties of Tehran and other provinces, and 511 corpses of the protesters were buried in Behesht Zahra. He categorized the victims of the December protests into two groups: "martyrs" and "combatants," adding that government institutions "have not yet specifically declared anyone as a combatant." After the bloody crackdown on the protests of January 18 and 19, which human rights organizations say resulted in the deaths of thousands, the media and officials of the Islamic Republic initially attributed everything to "terrorists." This narrative has changed in recent days. After Masoud Pezeshkian referred to the "deceived youth" as protesters, Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, on February 28, emphasized that the "innocent people" killed during the crackdown on the December protests are martyrs, stating, "No matter where the bullet came from, this happened in the enemy's sedition, and they are martyrs." This was the first time a government official implicitly acknowledged that the bullets fired at protesting people might have come "from anywhere." The CEO of Behesht Zahra also denied receiving money from the relatives of the deceased under the title of "bullet rights" and regarding some reports about the mass burial of the deceased, stated: "Fundamentally, we do not have mass graves in Iran that we would want to have in Behesht Zahra."

🔸Simultaneously with the new round of negotiations between the Islamic Republic and the United States in Geneva, the Iranian government, as part of a military exercise, temporarily halted traffic in the Strait of Hormuz for several hours. This action was taken amid reports from Israeli sources about the readiness of the U.S. and Israel for a scenario of failed negotiations. The government website Tasnim reported that in the second phase of the "Smart Control of the Strait of Hormuz" exercise, the passage of vessels was prohibited for several hours. Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, announced that with the issuance of the "clear" status, vessels must remain behind the Strait of Hormuz.

🔸Reuters, citing satellite images, reported that the Islamic Republic has recently built a concrete shield over new facilities in the Parchin complex, about 30 kilometers southeast of Tehran, and covered it with soil. The news agency also referred to a January 29 report from the Institute for Science and International Security, adding that satellite images from late January show new efforts to bury two tunnel entrances in the Isfahan complex, which the U.S. bombed in June. According to the report from February 9 by this institute, filling the tunnel entrances could reduce the impact of any potential airstrike and also make ground access in special operations to seize or destroy highly enriched uranium more difficult.

🔸The Lebanese Hezbollah group rejected the decision of the Lebanese government to give at least four months for the army to advance to the second phase of a comprehensive disarmament plan, stating that it will not accept what it considers "an action in service of Israel."

🔸Negotiations between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States to end the war in Ukraine concluded without any progress. These talks, held in Geneva, lasted for long hours on Tuesday but only lasted two hours on Wednesday. Although Steve Vitkoff, the U.S. envoy, expressed optimism about the negotiations, both Russia and Ukraine stated that the talks were "difficult."

JD Vance, the Vice President of the United States, stated in an interview about negotiations with the Islamic Republic that Washington has "clear red lines" and emphasized: "We do not want Iran to acquire nuclear weapons." He warned that Iran obtaining a nuclear bomb could lead to the dangerous proliferation of nuclear weapons among other countries.

Vance referred to the U.S. government's approach, saying: "Our preference is to resolve this issue through dialogue and diplomatic negotiation," but at the same time clarified that the President "has kept all options on the table." He added that recent negotiations have been positive in some respects and that the parties have agreed to continue discussions, but according to him, the Islamic Republic is still unwilling to accept the "red lines set" by the U.S.

The Vice President of the United States also emphasized that if diplomacy does not yield results, it is the President who will decide "when diplomacy has reached its natural conclusion."

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic described the second round of new negotiations with the United States as "constructive," but stated that both sides still have positions that require work to bring them closer together.

Abbas Araghchi said on Tuesday after the conclusion of these negotiations at the Omani embassy in Geneva, to the Islamic Republic's television, that "the path to an agreement has begun, but we will not reach it quickly."

He also stated that the timing for the next round of negotiations is still unclear, and the parties are expected to conduct consultations in their capitals. The Iranian Foreign Minister added, "It was agreed that both sides would work on the texts of a potential agreement, and then we would exchange these texts, after which we would set another date for the third round."

Representing Iran, Abbas Araghchi and his accompanying delegation participated in these discussions, while from the United States, as before, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were present in the U.S. delegation.

The leader of the Islamic Republic described pre-determined outcomes for negotiations between Iran and the United States as "a foolish and stupid act," stating that if the goal of the talks is to dismantle the nuclear program, such a topic is fundamentally not up for negotiation.

Ali Khamenei, in a speech on Tuesday, February 17, also referred to Donald Trump's threats by sending the largest American aircraft carriers to the region, saying: "More dangerous than the carrier is the weapon that can sink it to the bottom of the sea."

The leader of the Islamic Republic, coinciding with the second round of negotiations between Iran and the U.S. in Geneva, addressed the President of the United States, saying: "You say let's talk about this or that topic, let's reach an agreement, why do you determine the outcome? We must definitely reach this agreement. Well, that's foolish."

In another part of his speech, Ali Khamenei claimed that Donald Trump seeks to dominate Iran, stating that Iran "knows its Islamic and Shia lessons well," and added, "Imam Hussein said that someone like me does not pledge allegiance to someone like Yazid."

In part of his speech, the leader of the Islamic Republic threatened the United States militarily, saying: "The strongest army in the world may sometimes receive such a blow that it cannot get back up."

Ali Khamenei also distorted the statements of the U.S. President, claiming that he said, "For 47 years, America has not been able to eliminate the Islamic Republic," describing it as a "good confession."

This comes as the President of the United States recently welcomed the idea of regime change in Iran, stating: "For 47 years, they have just been talking and talking and talking. In the meantime, we have lost many lives while they talk. Legs have been severed, hands have been severed, faces have been destroyed. This situation has been going on for a long time."

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, early on Tuesday, February 17, just hours before the second round of negotiations with representatives of the Islamic Republic, stated that he would participate indirectly in the negotiations and added that in his opinion, Tehran "wants to reach an agreement."

Donald Trump, speaking to reporters while returning to Washington on Air Force One, responded to a question about the Geneva negotiations by saying: "I will participate indirectly in these negotiations, and [these negotiations] will be very important. We will see what might happen. I mean, Iran is usually a very tough negotiator. Are they good negotiators or bad? I say they are bad negotiators because we could have reached an agreement instead of sending B-2 bombers to eliminate their nuclear potential. We had to send B-2 bombers. I hope, I hope they will be more reasonable. They want to reach an agreement."

In response to a reporter's question asking, "Have you been told that an agreement is almost impossible?" he replied: "No, I think they want to reach an agreement. I don't think they want the consequences of not reaching an agreement. They want to reach an agreement."

Aryan, Amirhossein's younger brother, was also shot in the throat with a live bullet in front of the same police station on January 8. According to his relatives, other protesters had taken him to a clinic, but he passed away a day later.

The bodies of the two brothers have been buried in a two-tier grave in Behesht Zahra.

The fortieth-day ceremonies for thousands of those killed in the bloody crackdowns of January 7 and 8 will be held over the coming days this week, and it seems that security forces, fearing the emergence of protests and gatherings of opponents of the Islamic Republic, are trying to prevent these events from taking place.

Ali Larijani, in an interview with the Qatari network Al Jazeera, stated that inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) could be "monthly or even daily" to identify "any suspicious activities." The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic continued, saying, "Even if the (nuclear) technology is underground or in the mountains, it doesn't matter. The Agency can monitor it, and we allow this oversight."

The reference to facilities built underground or in the mountains could include centers used for uranium enrichment, which have been targeted by the U.S. and Israel. This shift in position comes ahead of a new round of negotiations between Iran and the U.S. scheduled to take place on Tuesday in Geneva, although the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic has reiterated that Iran will not negotiate regarding its missile program.
