🔸 Maya Sato, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran, expressed concern about the situation inside Iran in a report, stating that individuals in the country "may now face the death penalty simply for participating in protests." Ms. Sato noted on X that she has received "reports of forced confessions from protesters," writing: "Today, we do not know how many people have been arrested, where they are being held, or under what conditions; we do not know how many have been sentenced to death or have been executed so far."

🔸 The human rights organization Hrana, based in the United States, reported in its latest update that the confirmed death toll from the recent protests in Iran has reached 7,005. Additionally, 214 of the deceased were members of military/government forces. Hrana further added that the deaths of another 11,730 individuals are under investigation, and the total number of arrests has exceeded 53,000. Human rights organizations say the actual numbers could be significantly higher than these figures.

🔸 Based on satellite images, Iran is strengthening a tunnel complex near the Natanz nuclear facility. These images show that construction activities are underway to reinforce the entrances of two tunnels at Kolang Gazla (or Kolang Mountain) in Isfahan province, near the Natanz nuclear site. Experts believe this underground complex near the Natanz nuclear site may be a fortified section of Iran's nuclear infrastructure established in recent years. A report from the Institute for Science and International Security states that this complex may be designed to protect enrichment activities, store enriched uranium, or safeguard key nuclear equipment, but the exact function of this complex and whether it is operational remains unclear.

🔸 Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, described the possibility of a new nuclear agreement with Iran as "possible," but "extremely difficult" on the sidelines of the Munich Conference. He stated: "We must accept that after the 12-day war, the entire nuclear landscape of Iran has fundamentally changed; perhaps not in terms of capabilities, but in terms of physical infrastructures that no longer exist, and this changes the entire equation." According to Mr. Grossi, "When it comes to any agreement, the question is what exists and what remains, but more importantly, what the future holds." He responded to the question of what kind of "nuclear Iran" might emerge from this situation: "This situation will no longer be like it was in May or June."

The aircraft carrier "USS Gerald R. Ford" is being deployed to the Persian Gulf

The New York Times, citing four American officials, reported that the aircraft carrier "USS Gerald R. Ford" and its accompanying escort ships will be sent to the Middle East and are not expected to return to their home ports until mid or late May.

According to this media outlet, the crew of the Ford was informed of this deployment on Thursday, February 11.

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, recently announced that he would send another ship to the region as part of increasing pressure on the Islamic Republic.

The Ford left its home port in Norfolk, Virginia, on June 24. It was initially scheduled for a deployment in Europe but changed course to the Caribbean as part of maximum pressure on Caracas and remained in Venezuelan waters.

Fighter jets stationed on the Ford participated in the January 3 attack on the capital of Venezuela and the arrest of Nicolás Maduro, the former president of the country.

According to the New York Times, sailors on the Ford expected to return home in about two weeks, but the new mission delays the previously scheduled return of the ship to the Virginia coast and the completion of essential upgrades and major repairs.

Donald Trump, just hours before this news was published in the New York Times, shared a Wall Street Journal report about the Pentagon's readiness to deploy a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East on his social media platform, Truth Social reposted.

Previously, the Wall Street Journal reported that as the U.S. military prepares for a possible attack on the Islamic Republic, the Pentagon has ordered a second U.S. aircraft carrier strike group to be ready for deployment to the Middle East.

Trump: We need to reach an agreement very quickly over the next month, otherwise it will be very painful for them.

Reporter: ...about these negotiations with Iran?

Donald Trump: We need to reach an agreement; otherwise, it will be very damaging. Very damaging. I don’t want that to happen, but we need to reach an agreement. They should have reached an agreement the first time instead of getting that midnight hammer operation. We had a very good meeting with Bibi Netanyahu yesterday. And he understands, but ultimately it’s up to me. If the agreement is not a very fair and good one with Iran, then I think it will be a very tough time for them.

Reporter: Do you have a timeline for those negotiations?
Donald Trump: I guess over the next month. Something like that. Yes. It shouldn’t take long... I mean, it needs to happen quickly. They need to reach an agreement very quickly.

Reporter: Why does Prime Minister Netanyahu want you to stop negotiating with Iran?
Trump: I didn’t say that. We didn’t talk about that. I will talk to them as long as I want. And we’ll see if we can reach an agreement with them or not. And if we can’t, we have to go to phase 2. Phase 2 will be very tough for them. I’m not looking for that.

Wall Street Journal: Washington's Covert Operation to Equip Iranian Protesters with 6,000 Starlink Terminals

Wall Street Journal has revealed in an exclusive report that the Trump administration secretly smuggled approximately 6,000 Starlink terminals into Iran following the bloody crackdown on protests last month. This is the first time the United States has directly sent Starlink equipment to Iran to assist dissenters in bypassing censorship and internet shutdowns. According to U.S. officials, this decision was made after senior Trump administration officials diverted part of the budget from "Internet Freedom" programs to purchase these satellite terminals.

According to details from the report, the U.S. State Department had purchased nearly 7,000 Starlink terminals in recent months, with a significant portion supplied in January. Donald Trump was aware of the shipment process and had previously discussed ensuring Iranian protesters' access to satellite internet in a call with Elon Musk in January.

The Wall Street Journal report indicates that the focus on Starlink has created a rift in Washington's support policies. Due to budget allocation to Starlink, financial support for popular VPNs like "Psiphon" has significantly decreased, putting the company in serious difficulty to cover operational costs.

The Wall Street Journal reported that earlier, Mura Namdar, a senior official at the U.S. State Department, emphasized in a memo to Marco Rubio that VPNs are ineffective during a complete internet shutdown, and Starlink is the only remaining option.

Donald Trump just reposted this report from yesterday's Wall Street Journal on Truth Social:

Wall Street Journal: Pentagon on standby to deploy second aircraft carrier; Trump’s leverage ahead of negotiations with Tehran

The Wall Street Journal revealed in an exclusive report, citing American officials, that the Pentagon has ordered its second aircraft carrier strike group to prepare for deployment to the Middle East. This move comes as the U.S. military readies itself for a potential attack on the Islamic Republic. According to the report, although President Trump has not yet issued an official deployment order and has expressed a preference for reaching a "deal," the positioning of these forces is aimed at being prepared in case negotiations with the Iranian government fail.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Donald Trump raised the issue of deploying a second aircraft carrier to the region as an option for readiness in the event of failed negotiations on Tuesday. According to official sources, the deployment order could be issued within hours, although plans may change depending on the progress of talks. If confirmed, the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush, currently completing military exercises off the coast of Virginia, will likely join the USS Abraham Lincoln, which is already in the region, within two weeks.

The authors of this report emphasize that this aircraft carrier has the capability to launch and recover strike, reconnaissance, and electronic warfare aircraft, including the naval version of the stealth fighter F-35. The Wall Street Journal had previously reported that any potential military strike inside Iran would likely utilize stealth aircraft such as the F-35, F-22, and B-2 bombers. The simultaneous deployment of two aircraft carriers to the Middle East is unprecedented since the battle against Houthi rebels in March 2025 and indicates a significant increase in U.S. firepower in the region in recent weeks.

In another part of the article, Trump's diplomatic meetings are mentioned. On Wednesday, he met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House to discuss the ongoing negotiations with Tehran. After the meeting, Trump announced on social media that he told Netanyahu his priority is to reach a deal, but if negotiations fail, "we'll have to see what the outcome will be." According to the Wall Street Journal, after Trump backed away from a retaliatory strike in mid-January in response to the Iranian government's severe crackdown on protesters, he has asked the military to prepare "more decisive" and final options for him.

The authors conclude by quoting Trump, noting that he is in no rush when dealing with the Tehran government. He emphasized, by comparing the current situation to the Venezuela case, that "we have plenty of time" and described the deployment of forces as a move to be in the "right position," while also referencing the progress of ongoing talks.

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, stated in an interview with Fox News that any agreement with Iran must include not only the country's nuclear program but also Tehran's missile program.

Mr. Trump, who mentioned the possibility of sending another naval group to the Persian Gulf on Tuesday, emphasized in the Fox News interview: "Many people say no, but I say I would prefer an agreement to be made; of course, it has to be a good agreement. No nuclear weapons, no missiles, none of this and none of that; everything you want. But some people are worried because, according to them, Iran has been very dishonest with us over the years."

Mr. Trump's remarks about the terms of negotiations with Iran come as Abbas Araqchi, the Foreign Minister, and other leaders of the Islamic Republic state that the country's missile program is "non-negotiable" and that regarding the nuclear program, the country will not relinquish its right to enrichment, although it may temporarily halt or reduce it for confidence-building purposes.

Yesterday, J.D. Vance, Mr. Trump's deputy, mentioned in Yerevan that the issue of the bloody crackdown on protests in Iran in December has also been raised in negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
