Scott Basset, the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, wrote in a post on the social media platform X: "It's very hard for the mice in the sewer to understand what's happening in the outside world. A little light for the leaders of Iran who are truly sitting in the dark:

    1. The United States has complete control over the Strait of Hormuz.

    2. [In Iran] there is a shortage of foreign currency, meaning U.S. dollars.

    3. [In Iran] food and gasoline rationing is in place.

    4. The entire international community is against Iran.

    5. The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz will continue until freedom of navigation is restored as it was before February 27."

The U.S. Treasury Department also issued a statement today warning that any individual or company, whether American or foreign, that pays "fees" to Iran for passage through the Strait of Hormuz is at risk of violating U.S. sanctions against Iran.

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, said on Friday that he is not satisfied with Tehran's latest proposal to end the war and stated that there are two options regarding Iran: an agreement or severe bombing.

Speaking to reporters in the White House's outdoor area, he said, "There are options. Do we want to go in and bomb them heavily and finish them off for good? Or do we want to try to make a deal? Those are the options."

Trump also confirmed that on Thursday he received an updated report on military options from the U.S. Central Command, CENTCOM.

He expressed a preference for not resuming a bombing campaign, explaining, "From a humanitarian standpoint, I would prefer not to do that. But that is the option: Do we want to go in hard and wipe them out completely, or do we want to do something else?"

The U.S. President also expressed doubt about Tehran's ability to accept an agreement, saying, "They want to reach a deal, but I am not satisfied with it." He reiterated that he is currently "not satisfied with what they have proposed."

His reference was to a proposal that Iranian media reported was delivered to Pakistan as a mediator for negotiations on Thursday evening. The U.S. President did not specify what in the new Iranian proposal is unacceptable to him and further indicated that Tehran officials may never reach a negotiated solution to end the war.

Trump pointed to "severe disagreements" among Iranian leaders, stating, "They have made progress, but I am not sure they will ever reach a conclusion." He added, "The leadership (of Iran) is very disorganized. They have two to three groups, maybe even four, and the leadership is very scattered. However, they all want to reach an agreement, but everything is in disarray."

The U.S. President also noted that negotiations with Tehran are ongoing via "phone." He said, "We are currently doing everything in terms of negotiations, over the phone. They have made progress, but I am not sure if they will ever get there."

The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control announced separately on Friday that it is sanctioning three Iranian foreign exchange exchanges and their affiliated shell companies as part of the department's efforts to disrupt the financial lifelines of the Iranian government.

This office states that Iranian exchanges facilitate billions of dollars in currency transactions each year, and since Iran primarily settles its oil sales in yuan, China's currency, these exchanges play a "vital role" in converting oil revenues into currencies that are more usable for Iran's military forces and their partners and proxy forces.

Scott Basset, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, described Iran as the "head of the global terrorism snake" in a statement and said the department is "acting decisively to cut off the financial lifelines of Iran's military forces" in line with directives from Donald Trump.

The layoffs of workers, which intensified in the last months of 1404 due to economic conditions, have taken on broader dimensions with the onset of 1405, the wartime situation, the severing of trade connections, and the deepening economic crisis.
In Rasht alone, at least 2,000 workers have become unemployed in the past one to two months, and across the country, the loss of approximately 135,000 jobs, the exit of nearly one million people from the labor market, and the registration of at least 191,000 unemployment insurance requests are signs of a worsening employment crisis and pressure on the livelihoods of the workforce.

According to the newspaper Etemad, there has been a severe shortage and price increase in the market for diapers and baby formula—considered essential goods for infants.
Based on this report, the price of domestically produced baby formula has reached at least 350,000 tomans, while the price of each can of foreign baby formula fluctuates between two to four million tomans. Additionally, many brands of baby formula have become rare or scarce.
A seller at a pharmacy in eastern Tehran, in an interview with Etemad, cited hoarding and the shift from check payments to cash as factors contributing to the price increase.
In the diaper market, prices have increased by 70 to 100%; for instance, the price of a pack of 20 domestically produced diapers has risen from 104,000 tomans in Bahman to 200,000 tomans.
Other types of diapers, especially foreign and higher-quality products, are priced between 400,000 to one million tomans, and a type of 50-pack diaper produced in Turkey is priced at around three million and 375,000 tomans.

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, said on Thursday, April 29, 2026, at the White House: "The Iranian government is very eager to reach an agreement. I don't want to go into too much detail, but if that happens, they should not have nuclear weapons, believe it or not."

Trump, referring to the military capabilities of the Islamic Republic, added: "Their navy is gone, their air force is gone, and almost all of their equipment has been destroyed." He stated that about 82% of drone factories and nearly 90% of missile factories are out of operation, and many missiles have also been destroyed.

The President of the United States also discussed the B-2 bomber attack, saying: "If we didn't have that B-2 bomber and didn't take action, we wouldn't have completely destroyed their nuclear capability." He added that this action prevented the Islamic Republic from obtaining a nuclear bomb and that this attack should have happened years ago.

Trump pointed out the current leadership situation in the Islamic Republic, saying: "Their first-tier leaders are gone, their second-tier leaders are gone, and now we are dealing with third-tier leaders." He described the current state of the Islamic Republic as "very bad" and added that many leaders, along with the military, have been eliminated.

Regarding the negotiation process, he said: "No one except myself and a few others knows exactly what the negotiations are about." Trump emphasized that the Iranian government is very eager for an agreement, but he considered the lack of clarity in the leadership structure a problem.

The President of the United States also commented on the Iranian football team's presence in America and the statements of the FIFA president, saying: "Let them play well. Do whatever you want. They probably have a good team."

Trump stated: "If Iran has nuclear weapons and uses them, then the whole world will be completely different. Then the issue is not just paying a little more for gasoline. Gasoline and oil prices will drop rapidly as soon as the war ends."

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, declared that Iran should not acquire nuclear weapons and that the United States does not need help from other countries for potential action.

He said from day one, Iran was "finished," and if necessary, the U.S. is fully prepared to act.

Trump criticized some European countries, saying: "Italy has not helped us at all, and Spain has been completely disastrous."

He added that the U.S. has helped these countries regarding Ukraine, while according to him, Ukraine has no direct connection to the U.S.

The President of the United States also criticized Germany, stating that the country is facing immigration, energy, and Ukraine issues.

He added that one of the German officials criticized him for his approach to Iran, but in response to the question of whether Iran should have nuclear weapons, he answered negatively.

Trump emphasized: "For this world, for our country, and certainly for Israel, the Middle East, and Europe, Iran cannot be allowed to have nuclear weapons." He added that the U.S. military has severely weakened the Islamic Republic.

The President of the United States also said: "Iran has killed 42,000 people in the past two months—protesters. They killed that wrestler, and his teammates too. He was a world champion in wrestling, a great wrestler, with extraordinary talent. They killed him because he protested. He wasn't wrestling; he was speaking out against the government, and that's why they killed him. They executed him and his friends."

Regarding the officials of the Islamic Republic, he said: "These are a tough and ruthless group. But we have severely weakened them, and their economy is in a disastrous state. We will see how long they can last. We will see."

Trump added: "We can fly directly from the middle of Tehran without being shot at because they have no air defense. They have nothing. They are trying to figure out what is going on. But I am going to negotiate, and they are forcing you to negotiate from a position of weakness, not from a position of strength. But the difference is that it doesn't matter to me. And everyone knows the reality. We are destroying that country."

According to Axios, citing two informed sources, U.S. President Donald Trump is set to receive a report on new plans for potential military action against the Iranian regime from CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper on Thursday.

Cooper had previously presented a similar report to Trump on February 26, just two days before the United States and Israel began their war against Iran. One source close to Trump indicated that that meeting influenced his decision to enter the war.

According to three informed sources, CENTCOM has prepared a plan for a wave of "short and powerful" attacks against the Iranian regime. Another plan expected to be presented to Trump focuses on controlling part of the Strait of Hormuz to reopen it for commercial shipping. One source mentioned that such an operation could also involve ground forces.

Another option that has been previously discussed and may be considered in this meeting is special forces operations to secure and control high-enriched uranium stockpiles in Iran. Trump told Axios on Wednesday that he views a naval blockade against Iran as "somewhat more effective than bombing."

Two sources have told Axios that Trump currently sees this blockade as his main leverage, but if Iran continues to resist, he will also consider military action. U.S. military planners are also considering the possibility of retaliatory military action by the Iranian regime against U.S. forces in the region in response to this blockade.

According to sources, U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Mark Milley is also expected to attend the meeting on Thursday. The White House has not responded to requests for comment.

Mr. Trump stated in a speech about the Epic Fury operation in early Farvardin: "The Islamic Republic must open the path of the 'Trump Strait'." He added: "First I said 'Trump Strait', I meant the Strait of Hormuz. Sorry, that was a very bad mistake. Fake news will say that I said this by accident; nothing about me is accidental."

Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, in a sarcastic message responding to Trump's remarks that Iran's oil pipelines are three days away from reaching a breaking point due to full oil tanks, wrote:

"Three days have passed and no well has exploded. We can continue this for up to 30 days and even show a live broadcast of the well here.

This is the same kind of 'low-quality advice' that the U.S. government receives from people like Basant; those who simultaneously promote the theory of siege and have driven oil prices above $120; the next target: $140."

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, emphasized on Wednesday that Iran must "surrender" in light of the impact of the naval blockade against the country. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office during a meeting with astronauts from the "Artemis 2" mission, he responded to a question about how long he is prepared to maintain this blockade by saying, "This blockade is an extraordinarily clever move."

He reiterated the destruction of Iran's military capabilities, including the loss of its navy and air force, stating, "Now they must accept defeat and say 'we surrender.' That's all they need to do."

During the conversation with reporters in the Oval Office, Trump referred to the negotiations with the Islamic Republic and noted a shift in his diplomatic approach. Criticizing lengthy trips and traditional diplomacy, he said, "No more 18-hour flights for every press meeting; we now handle many matters over the phone, which is much more efficient."

Trump stated that "the Iranians have come a long way," emphasizing that the main question is whether they are willing to come far enough to meet U.S. expectations. He reiterated Washington's red line, adding, "As long as they do not agree to not obtaining nuclear weapons, there will be no deal."

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, mentioned during a meeting with NASA astronauts at the White House that Vladimir Putin proposed in a phone call on Wednesday, April 28, to help Washington manage Iran's enriched uranium reserves.
During the welcoming ceremony for the "Artemis 2" astronauts at the White House, Trump referred to the details of his phone conversation with Vladimir Putin and reported on the Russian President's willingness to play a role in the Iran case.
Describing the conversation as "very good," Trump stated: "He is willing to help and participate in the enrichment issue, but I told him before you help me, I want to finish your war (in Ukraine)."
Trump further emphasized that the United States will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons and claimed that a large part of Iran's military capabilities, including its navy, air force, and defense systems, have been weakened or destroyed.
He also claimed that about 80% of the infrastructure related to missile production has been eliminated, and if an agreement is not reached, the remaining infrastructure will also be targeted.
The U.S. President added that in his conversation with Putin, the issue of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons was agreed upon by both sides, and a proposal for a ceasefire in the Ukraine war was also raised, which he stated might be accepted by the Russian side.

FIFA, in an unprecedented move, has allowed the Afghan women's football team in exile to participate in official international matches representing Afghanistan.

Khalida Popal, the former captain of the Afghan national football team, stated that this action will turn them into a "symbol of resistance."

Afghanistan has not played in any official international matches since December 2018.

The return of the Taliban to power in 2021 imposed restrictions on women's rights, including a ban on women's sports, which forced many players to seek asylum abroad.

Previous FIFA regulations prevented the organization from legally recognizing a team unless it was approved by its member federation—in this case, the Afghan Football Federation.

The Canadian border police prevented the entry of Mehdi Taj, the president of the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hedayat Mombini, the secretary of the federation, and their companions into Vancouver to attend the FIFA conference, and returned them to Iran.

The government website "Varzesh-e Se" confirmed this news on Wednesday, April 9, stating that despite having received travel authorization to Canada (not a visa), they were forced to return to Iran after a long wait due to the immigration police's decision and the rejection of their visa application.

The executive committee of the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran also did not attend the annual meeting of the Asian Football Confederation in Vancouver on Tuesday, April 8. The Secretary-General of the Asian Confederation announced the reason for the absence of the representatives of the Islamic Republic as "visa issues."

According to domestic media, the representatives of the Islamic Republic's football began a "long and exhausting" journey to reach Vancouver in western Canada on Saturday. They traveled overland from the northwestern borders of Iran to the city of Van in Turkey, then headed to Istanbul, and from there took a long flight to Vancouver; however, due to the decision of the Canadian border police, they were not allowed to enter the country.

Mehdi Taj, the president of the Islamic Republic's Football Federation, is considered inadmissible for entry under Canadian immigration laws due to his executive background in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which Canada designates as a terrorist group.

Nevertheless, the Canadian government had issued him a temporary residence permit to enter Vancouver under "strict conditions" to participate in the FIFA congress on Thursday, April 10, 2025.

This action by the Liberal government of Mark Carney faced widespread protests from Iranians residing in Canada, as well as opposition from the Conservative Party.

Since June 2023, Canada has listed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps among "terrorist" groups.

The 76th annual meeting of FIFA will be held on Thursday, April 10, in Vancouver, Canada. This meeting is set to discuss the latest developments related to the 2026 World Cup, with less than 45 days remaining until this important event. Vancouver is one of the host cities for the World Cup matches.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will begin on June 11, hosted jointly by Canada, the United States, and Mexico, with the matches of the Islamic Republic's national team scheduled to take place in the western cities of Seattle and Los Angeles in the United States.
