Trump's interview with The New York Times, machine translation:
President Trump said in an interview on Sunday afternoon that the agreement reached with Iran will ultimately ensure that the Strait of Hormuz is "forever free of tolls," arguing that despite the opposition from Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, he has saved Israel from nuclear destruction.

Mr. Trump also insisted that if Iran fails to reach a final nuclear agreement with the United States—a process his aides say is expected to begin on Friday in Switzerland—he will resume military attacks on Tehran or, in exchange for receiving 20% of regional revenues, will make the United States the "guardian of the Middle East."

In a 28-minute phone conversation that Mr. Trump initiated from his residence in the White House, and in a subsequent brief call, the President claimed that his decision to attack Iran in late February and the subsequent naval blockade of its ports after Tehran closed the Strait transformed the Middle East in favor of the United States.

Speaking on his 80th birthday, with the sound of his family gathering for a birthday dinner in the background, he praised two authoritarian leaders—Xi Jinping, the President of China, and Vladimir V. Putin, the President of Russia—for their assistance in this agreement and severely criticized Mr. Netanyahu for conducting attacks that nearly derailed the final agreement.

Regarding the Prime Minister of Israel, Mr. Trump said, "He is a very difficult person, and to be honest, he should be very grateful to us for this. Because if Iran had a nuclear weapon, Israel wouldn't last two hours."

Although the text of the agreement has not yet been released, it appeared that Mr. Trump was describing concessions from Iran that the country has not yet made or have been postponed for later negotiations. For example, the memorandum only suspends tolls for passing through the Strait for 60 days and then promises regional dialogue about the future. Iran never charged tolls before the war, so Mr. Trump is essentially celebrating a return to the pre-war status.

Mr. Trump repeatedly compared his new memorandum to the 2015 agreement between Barack Obama, the then-President, and Iran's leadership, stating that his agreement will ensure that Iran "cannot produce or acquire nuclear weapons." Iran had agreed to this when it ratified the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons in 1970, and it was reiterated on the front page of the Obama-era agreement.

In the past three months of negotiations, led by Steve Witkoff, the President's special envoy, and Jared Kushner, his son-in-law, the Iranians insisted that they would never give up their right to enrich uranium under that treaty. Mr. Trump said they are still negotiating whether Iran will suspend its enrichment for 20 years or not—Trump implied he might accept a 15-year suspension—but stated that Iran will be permanently limited to low-level enrichment; levels that "can never be used by the military."

The Obama administration's agreement also had this condition, but after Mr. Trump abandoned that agreement in 2018, Iran began enriching at much higher levels, including uranium close to the level needed for a bomb, with a 60% enrichment.

During this conversation, the President was in a cheerful mood and spoke about the upcoming UFC event that is set to take place on the South Lawn of the White House and the possibility that rain might disrupt it. He said, "Things like this happen during wartime."

In a statement released on social media on Sunday, Starmer added: "We are ready to support the technical discussions that will now begin. Our priority is to ensure that this agreement leads to a sustainable and lasting peace, and we will work with international partners to achieve this goal."
He stated that Britain's support could, if necessary, include "launching an independent and multilateral defense mission, in which Britain and France have so far played a leading role in planning; particularly to provide assistance in mine clearance" in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Prime Minister of Britain also emphasized: "Britain's firm and longstanding position remains that Iran must never acquire nuclear weapons."

Macron stated that this agreement should pave the way for the immediate and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. He added that the international mission established in cooperation with Britain is ready to support this process, and the resumption of maritime traffic without restrictions and tariffs is essential for regional stability and the global economy.

He emphasized that France is ready to play a role alongside its partners in achieving lasting peace in the region.

The Ma'ariv newspaper reported, citing Israeli sources, that Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, explicitly stated in a conversation with Donald Trump, the President of the United States, that Israel does not consider itself bound by the clause related to Lebanon in the agreement between the U.S. and the Iranian government.

According to the report, Netanyahu said that the Israeli army will not withdraw from Lebanon, will remain in its current positions, and will continue its actions to neutralize the threats from Hezbollah, including the destruction of terrorist infrastructure and responding to any attacks against Israel.

Ma'ariv wrote that the understanding of Israeli sources is that "a potential U.S. agreement with Iran will not constrain Israel's actions in Lebanon. The main message is: Israel has independent security-strategic interests in Lebanon and intends to uphold them."

The newspaper added: "Now it remains to be seen how these clarifications—beyond the phone call between Netanyahu and Trump—will play out in reality."

He stated that this agreement, if finalized, will be signed electronically either by him or by his Vice President, J.D. Vance.

The U.S. President described this agreement on Sunday as a significant step towards ending the nearly four-month conflict.

Trump also mentioned that the agreement includes the Islamic Republic's commitment not to acquire nuclear weapons and the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. He added that there is no rush to remove nuclear materials from Iran, and this matter can be pursued at a later stage.

Trump said, "Later, when we are ready to act, we will collect the nuclear materials. I think this will happen within a month or two, and there is no rush."

🔹I want the attacks to end, and the Iranians also want the war to stop.

🔹I have never sought regime change in Iran.

🔹Very thorough and strict inspections will be conducted on the Iranians.

🔹No money will be given to Iran in this agreement, but sanctions will likely be lifted; we will have to see how they behave in practice.

Trump: I told Netanyahu, what the hell are you doing? A big deal will be signed in the next two to three hours.

In the video above, Persian subtitles have been added using AI, here’s the text from the first two minutes:
"Yes, Kevin, good afternoon. I just spoke with President Trump. He told Fox News that he believes a big deal with Iran will be signed in the next two to three hours.

I asked him about today’s attacks by Israel against Hezbollah in the capital of Lebanon, Beirut. He said he spoke on the phone with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, and asked him: 'What the hell are you doing?' Trump said he told the Prime Minister not to carry out these attacks against Hezbollah so as not to affect the progress of this deal.

Now, according to the Israeli army, the Israelis are preparing for the possibility of incoming ballistic missile strikes from Iran. President Trump told Fox News that he will ask Iran not to respond with missile strikes towards Israel, as this deal is on the verge of being signed and is expected to be signed tonight.

All of this is happening against the backdrop of the latest discussions to bring this final deal to the finish line. The President also talked about the mid-week attacks; when the U.S. was targeting many Iranian positions and bringing the Iranians back to the negotiating table.

You might remember, Kevin, I was speaking on the phone with the President while he was in the situation room, and the Iranians called him asking him to stop the bombing. The President believes that at that moment he was able to change the equation and force the Iranians to make these concessions again.

President Trump said if they sign the deal tonight, he will immediately order the lifting of the blockade on Iranian ports, and then they will enter into more detailed discussions about Iran's nuclear program.

But again, the most important news we know right now is: President Trump told Fox News that he believes the deal with Iran will be signed in the next two to three hours. According to the President, this signing will be done electronically, and a week later, a formal signing ceremony is expected to take place, possibly somewhere in Europe.

I reiterate: The President reacted after today’s attacks by Israel on the capital of Lebanon, Beirut. The Israelis targeted Hezbollah positions in response to drone fire this week from across the border towards northern Israel. And the President says he asked the Prime Minister of Israel: 'What the hell are you doing?'"

In a statement regarding this, the Israeli army mentioned that it attacked "terrorist targets belonging to Hezbollah" in Dahieh.
Israel cited the reason for this attack as gunfire from Hezbollah into Israeli territory.
Earlier, the Israeli army announced that three drones were separately launched into northern Israel on Sunday. Israel held the Hezbollah group responsible for launching these drones.
On Sunday, the Israeli army also warned residents of several other villages in southern Lebanon to evacuate their homes.
According to a report by AFP, citing a Hebrew-speaking spokesperson for the Israeli army, residents of 29 villages in the area must relocate to another location. Israel intends to carry out airstrikes on these villages.
The report stated that on Sunday morning, Israel first warned residents of 13 villages and then residents of 16 other villages in southern Lebanon.

Lebanon's Civil Defense also announced that three people were killed in this attack.
Al-Arabiya further reported that the Israeli army conducted three airstrikes on the city of Sijd in southern Lebanon on Sunday.
The Israeli army had previously stated that in response to the launch of three drones by Hezbollah into northern Israel and what it called a violation of the ceasefire by this group, it targeted one of Hezbollah's bases in the Dahieh neighborhood of Beirut.

Yair Lapid, former Prime Minister and one of the leaders of the opposition in Israel, sharply criticized Benjamin Netanyahu on X, describing the agreement between Iran and the U.S. as "the most shocking failure of Israel's foreign and security policy" and holding the Prime Minister fully responsible for it.

Mr. Lapid wrote that he hopes "the reports about the agreement with Iran are not true" and pointed out 13 instances that he considers failures and shortcomings of Mr. Netanyahu, including that:

"He sold an overly optimistic narrative to the Americans without fully outlining the map of dangers and lost their trust in the midst of war."

He also wrote that Mr. Netanyahu "failed to convince the Americans to bomb Iran's oil and energy facilities" and to "include the issue of ballistic missiles in the agreement or even in the negotiations."

Mr. Lapid further noted that the Prime Minister of Israel "advanced the plan regarding the Kurds without considering Turkey's predictable reaction and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's influence in Washington."

While reports from inside Iran indicate that the review of the text of the agreement is ongoing and the timing of its signing remains unclear, Reuters reported on Sunday that the Trump administration has agreed to release $25 billion of Iran's frozen assets as part of the agreement.

Reuters cited its report from a "senior official" in the Islamic Republic but did not name them.

According to the Reuters source, the U.S. government has also agreed to dilute Iran's highly enriched uranium within the country.

These are two of the most contentious issues in the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the U.S.: Trump has repeatedly emphasized the need to take, transfer, or eliminate Iran's 60% enriched uranium while also stating multiple times that he would not give any money to Iran.

The issue of giving money to the Iranian government has been particularly sensitive for Donald Trump, as he has long criticized Barack Obama for agreeing to transfer money to Tehran during the negotiations leading to the so-called JCPOA.
