Bloomberg News reported, citing "informed sources," that senior national security officials from the United Arab Emirates and Iran met for the first time since the start of the U.S. and Israeli war against Tehran.

This meeting, which took place this week, indicates a significant shift in the approach of both sides, according to Bloomberg, occurring at a time when both countries have increasingly recognized the importance of calmer bilateral relations. The news agency states that its sources requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.

According to the report, UAE leaders want their ambitious economic plans, including billion-dollar investments in increasing oil production and establishing artificial intelligence data centers, to continue without disruption. This relationship is also important for Tehran, as the UAE was one of Tehran's largest trading partners and a crucial route for transferring Iran's sanctioned oil before the war began.

Bloomberg's sources indicate that Abu Dhabi's recent contact with Iran was primarily aimed at achieving some form of de-escalation with a government it considers an enemy.

Since the start of the Middle East war on February 28 of last year, Iran has targeted the UAE more than any other country. Abu Dhabi has also responded several times and has taken the most aggressive stance towards Iran among its Arab neighbors. However, it seems that the UAE is now following a path similar to that of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, seeking to reduce tensions through diplomacy despite being targeted by Iran and its affiliated forces.

According to Bloomberg, Saudi Arabia, whose energy facilities and military bases have been targeted, resumed contacts with Tehran at the foreign minister level in early April. Qatar, whose large Ras Laffan natural gas facilities were attacked, has been particularly keen on reconciliation and hosted a delegation from Iran late last month, increasingly playing a mediating role between Washington and Tehran. Bloomberg emphasized that all three Arab countries recognize the necessity of coexisting with a neighbor across the Persian Gulf, with a population of 90 million and significant military capabilities, even in light of the extensive damage inflicted by U.S. and Israeli bombings.

این دیدار که در هفته جاری انجام شد، به نوشتهٔ بلومبرگ، نشان‌دهندهٔ چرخشی قابل توجه در رویکرد دو طرف است و در شرایطی صورت می‌گیرد که هر دو کشور بیش از پیش به اهمیت روابط دوجانبه آرام‌تر پی برده‌اند.
این خبرگزاری می‌گوید که منابع آن به‌دلیل حساسیت موضوع نخواستند نامشان فاش شود.

بر اساس این گزارش، رهبران امارات می‌خواهند برنامه‌های بلندپروازانهٔ اقتصادی خود، از جمله سرمایه‌گذاری میلیاردی در افزایش تولید نفت و ایجاد مراکز دادهٔ هوش مصنوعی، بدون اختلال ادامه یابد. این رابطه برای تهران نیز اهمیت دارد، زیرا امارات پیش از آغاز جنگ یکی از بزرگ‌ترین شرکای تجاری تهران و مسیر مهمی برای انتقال نفت تحریم‌شده ایران بود.

از زمان آغاز جنگ خاورمیانه در ۹ اسفند پارسال، ایران بیش از هر کشور دیگری امارات را هدف حملات خود قرار داده است.
ابوظبی نیز در چندین نوبت پاسخ داده و در میان همسایگان عرب خود تهاجمی‌ترین موضع را در قبال ایران اتخاذ کرده است.
با این حال، به نظر می‌رسد امارات اکنون مسیری مشابه قطر و عربستان سعودی را در پیش گرفته که با وجود هدف قرار گرفتن توسط ایران و نیروهای وابسته آن، در پی کاهش تنش از طریق دیپلماسی هستند.

بلومبرگ تأکید کرده که هر سه کشور عربی به ضرورت همزیستی با همسایه‌ای در آن سوی خلیج فارس، با جمعیتی ۹۰ میلیونی و توان نظامی قابل توجه، واقف هستند؛ حتی با وجود خسارات گسترده‌ای که از بمباران آمریکا و اسرائیل متحمل شده است.
