Wall Street Journal: Trump to Hold Meeting with Senior Cabinet Members on Iran Protests on Tuesday

🔸The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, January 21, citing U.S. officials, that Donald Trump, the President of the United States, is set to hold a meeting on Tuesday with senior members of his administration to discuss specific options for responding to the protests in Iran.

🔸According to the newspaper, this meeting will include a review of potential next steps, including military strikes, the use of classified cyber weapons against military and civilian targets in Iran, the imposition of further sanctions on the Iranian government, and strengthening anti-government resources and movements in the online space.

🔸The Wall Street Journal noted that officials such as the Secretaries of Defense and State will be present at Tuesday's meeting, but it is not expected that the President will make a final decision at that time, nor is any immediate action anticipated.

🔸The U.S. government is also considering sending Starlink devices into Iran; if this occurs, it would be the first time Mr. Trump authorizes the transfer of these terminals for satellite internet access to Iran.

🔸According to the report, the Pentagon has not moved any forces in preparation for potential military strikes. The United States must not only deploy the necessary equipment and capabilities for any attack but also consider measures to protect American forces in the region.

🔸Since the onset of the protests in Iran, Donald Trump has repeatedly warned the Islamic Republic not to kill the protesters. On Saturday, he stated in a message that the United States is ready to help Iran achieve freedom.

🔸روزنامه وال‌استریت جورنال روز یکشنبه ۲۱ دی با انتشار گزارشی به نقل از مقام‌های آمریکایی اعلام کرد که دونالد ترامپ، رئیس‌جمهور آمریکا قرار است روز سه‌شنبه با حضور مقام‌های ارشد دولت خود دربارهٔ گزینه‌های مشخص برای واکنش به اعتراضات در ایران نشستی برگزار کند.

🔸به نوشته این روزنامه، این نشست شامل بررسی گام‌های احتمالی بعدی خواهد بود؛ از جمله حملات نظامی، به‌کارگیری سلاح‌های سایبری محرمانه علیه اهداف نظامی و غیرنظامی ایران، اعمال تحریم‌های بیشتر علیه دولت ایران و تقویت منابع و جریان‌های ضدحکومتی در فضای آنلاین.

🔸کاخ سفید اعلام کرده است که دربارهٔ این گزارش اظهار نظر نمی‌کند.

🔸وال‌استریت جورنال اعلام کرده که در نشست سه‌شنبه مقام‌هایی مانند وزرای دفاع و خارجه حضور خواهند داشت اما انتظار نمی‌رود رئیس‌جمهور آمریکا در آن تصمیم نهایی بگیرد و همچنین اقدامی فوری در پیش نیست.

🔸دولت آمریکا همچنین در حال بررسی ارسال دستگاه‌های استارلینک به داخل ایران است؛ در این صورت نخستین بار خواهد بود که آقای ترامپ مجوز انتقال این ترمینال‌ها برای دریافت اینترنت ماهواره‌ای به ایران را صادر می‌کند.

🔸بر اساس این گزارش، پنتاگون هیچ نیرویی را برای آمادگی جهت حملات احتمالی نظامی جابه‌جا نکرده است. ایالات متحده برای انجام هرگونه حمله، نه‌تنها باید تجهیزات و توان لازم را مستقر کند، بلکه باید تمهیداتی برای حفاظت از نیروهای آمریکایی در منطقه نیز در نظر بگیرد.

🔸دونالد ترامپ از شروع اعتراضات ایران چندین نوبت به جمهوری اسلامی هشدار داده که معترضان را نکشد. او روز شنبه با انتشار پیامی گفت که ایالات متحده آماده کمک به ایران برای رسیدن به آزادی است.
