♦️ The New York Times reported on Tuesday, January 13, citing an American official, that Donald Trump is considering military options to respond to the deadly crackdown on protesters in Iran, while also keeping diplomatic avenues in mind.

According to this American official, the Pentagon has proposed a wide range of targets to Trump, including nuclear programs and ballistic missile sites. However, informed officials believe that more limited options, such as cyberattacks or targeting security entities responsible for the crackdowns, are more likely. Trump had previously stated that the use of deadly force against protesters is his "red line."

Caroline Levitt, a White House spokesperson, emphasized on Monday that airstrikes are just one of the options on the table, adding, "Diplomacy is always the President's top priority." She also noted that the confidential messages received from Tehran, despite their public harsh rhetoric, have a different tone that Trump is willing to consider.

به گفته این مقام آمریکایی، پنتاگون طیف گسترده‌ای از اهداف، شامل برنامه‌های هسته‌ای و سایت‌های موشک‌های بالستیک را به ترامپ پیشنهاد داده است. با این حال، مقامات آگاه معتقدند گزینه‌های محدودتر مانند حملات سایبری یا هدف قرار دادن نهادهای امنیتی مسئول در سرکوب‌ها محتمل‌تر هستند. ترامپ پیش‌تر اعلام کرده بود که استفاده از نیروی مرگبار علیه معترضان، «خط قرمز» اوست.
