Following reports about the possible decision of the U.S. to attack Iran, Benny Biton, the mayor of Dimona, announced to the residents of the city that the shelters have been opened. He emphasized that this decision was made to increase preparedness and that there has been no change in the guidelines of the Home Front Command.

Benny Biton wrote in a message on his Facebook page on Wednesday evening: "We have opened the shelters." He added: "The events of October 7 taught us a fundamental lesson; it is better to be prepared than to be surprised. For this reason, as a precautionary measure, I decided to open all public shelters in the city so that citizens feel secure."

در پی گزارش‌ها درباره تصمیم احتمالی آمریکا برای حمله به ایران، بنی بیتون، شهردار دیمونا، به ساکنان این شهر اعلام کرد که پناهگاه‌ها باز شده‌اند.
او تاکید کرد که این تصمیم با هدف افزایش آمادگی اتخاذ شده و تغییری در دستورالعمل‌های فرماندهی جبهه داخلی ایجاد نشده است.

بنی بیتون شامگاه چهارشنبه در پیامی در صفحه فیس‌بوک خود نوشت: «پناهگاه‌ها را باز کردیم». او افزود: «رویدادهای ۷ اکتبر یک درس پایه‌ای به ما داد؛ بهتر است آماده باشیم تا غافلگیر شویم. به همین دلیل، به‌عنوان یک اقدام احتیاطی تصمیم گرفتم همه پناهگاه‌های عمومی شهر باز شود تا شهروندان احساس امنیت کنند».
