Fars News Agency, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, reported early on Saturday, January 27, that the option to send SMS messages for mobile phone users in Iran has been activated. Fars, reiterating the Islamic Republic's claim about the connection between protesters in Iran and "foreign think tanks," asserted that the internet shutdown was aimed at "cutting this connection."

This IRGC-affiliated media announced that after the SMS services are restored, access to the national internet and domestic messaging apps will be activated, and eventually, access to the global internet will be possible. However, Fars warned that this phased return will occur "according to the circumstances" and there is no specific timeline for it.
