Donald Trump expressed hope on Wednesday, January 21, that following the protests in Iran, there would be no need for further action by the United States regarding this country.

The President of the United States told CNBC on the sidelines of the Davos summit in Switzerland: "We hope there will be no further action. They were shooting at people in the streets recklessly and aimlessly."

He reiterated that Iranian officials intended to execute 837 people after the protests, but he did not allow this: "I told them, 'You can't do this.'"

The U.S. President also stated that Iran must cease its efforts to acquire nuclear weapons and warned that if these efforts continue, potential actions in the future cannot be ruled out. Donald Trump said: "They could have had nuclear weapons a long time ago, but we hit them... They need to finish the nuclear issue." On Tuesday, in a press conference, in response to the question, "Has the military option against Iran been taken off the table?" he said: "No."

In response to a journalist's question about the transfer of U.S. military assets to the Persian Gulf and the possibility of military action against the Islamic Republic, Trump said: "We hope there will be no further action, but they are shooting at people blindly in the streets."

Trump, responding to criticisms about the lack of action against the Islamic Republic and support for the people of Iran, added: "If I found a cure for cancer, they would say, 'Why didn't you do it sooner?' If you walked on water, they would say, 'You don't know how to swim.' These are sick people. We call this the Trump Derangement Syndrome."

He also referred to the U.S. attack on the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities, saying: "If they want to do this again, it will happen again. They must stop the nuclear program. They are constantly testing and ultimately they will realize they cannot do this. We must not allow them to achieve it."
