Jean-Noël Barrot, the French Foreign Minister, condemned the "unacceptable repression of the peaceful uprising of the Iranian people" in a post on his official X account, stating: "The extraordinary courage of the Iranian people in the face of blind violence cannot be in vain. Together with our European partners, we will approve sanctions against Iranian officials tomorrow in Brussels. They will be banned from entering European territory, and their assets will be frozen."
Mr. Barrot announced that France will support placing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on the list of terrorist organizations of the European Union.
He concluded by urging the Iranian government to "immediately release prisoners, end executions, lift the digital blockade, and allow the UN Human Rights Council's fact-finding mission to investigate the crimes committed in Iran."

With the change in position of France and Spain regarding the designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization, the European Union may soon recognize this military entity of the Islamic Republic as a terrorist organization.

The French presidency announced on Wednesday, January 28, that the country supports the inclusion of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on the EU's list of terrorist organizations.

According to news agencies, sources in the Spanish Foreign Ministry also confirmed that Spain will vote in favor of this decision in the European Union.

This comes as Italy, which initially showed reluctance towards this action, changed its stance to support the designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organization following the release of new data on the horrific dimensions of the violent suppression of street protests in Iran.

On Tuesday, January 27, Antonio Tajani, the Italian Foreign Minister, also announced that Italy would propose placing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on the EU's list of terrorist organizations at the meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers' Council in Brussels on Thursday; a position that reflects a shift in Rome's approach to one of the most controversial foreign policy issues in Europe regarding the Iranian government.

The Israeli Foreign Minister, appreciating France's support for placing the IRGC on the EU's list of terrorist organizations, stated that the IRGC is violently killing the people of Iran.

ژان نوئل بارو، وزیر خارجه فرانسه، در حساب رسمی خود در شبکه اجتماعی ایکس، با محکوم کردن «سرکوب غیرقابل‌تحمل قیام مسالمت‌آمیز مردم ایران» نوشت: «شجاعت فوق‌العاده‌ مردم ایران در مواجهه با خشونت کورکورانه، نمی‌تواند بیهوده باشد. ما به همراه شرکای اروپایی خود، فردا در بروکسل تحریم‌هایی را علیه مسئولان ایران تصویب خواهیم کرد. آنها از ورود به خاک اروپا منع شده و دارایی‌هایشان مسدود خواهد شد.»
آقای بارو اعلام کرد که فرانسه از قرار دادن سپاه پاسداران انقلاب اسلامی در فهرست سازمان‌های تروریستی اتحادیه اروپا حمایت خواهد کرد.
او در پایان از حکومت ایران خواست که «فوراً زندانیان را آزاد کند، به اعدام‌ها پایان دهد، محاصره دیجیتالی را لغو کند و به هیئت حقیقت‌یاب شورای حقوق بشر سازمان ملل اجازه دهد تا جنایات انجام شده در ایران را بررسی کند.»

با تغییر موضع فرانسه و اسپانیا در زمینه تروریستی دانستن سپاه پاسداران انقلاب اسلامی، اتحادیه اروپا ممکن است به زودی این نهاد نظامی جمهوری اسلامی را به‌عنوان یک سازمان تروریستی شناسایی کند.

ریاست جمهوری فرانسه روز چهارشنبه ۸ بهمن اعلام کرد که این کشور از قرار گرفتن سپاه پاسداران انقلاب اسلامی در فهرست سازمان‌های تروریستی اتحادیه اروپا حمایت می‌کند.

به گزارش خبرگزاری‌ها، منابعی در وزارت خارجه اسپانیا نیز تأیید کردند که این کشور هم به نفع این تصمیم در اتحادیه اروپا رأی خواهد داد.

این در حالی است که ایتالیا نیز که در ابتدا تمایلی به این اقدام نداشت، پس از انتشار داده‌های جدیدی از ابعاد هولناک سرکوب خشونت‌بار اعتراضات خیابانی در ایران، موضع خود را به سمت حمایت از تروریستی شناسایی شدن سپاه تغییر داد.

روز سه‌شنبه ۷ بهمن آنتونیو تایانی، وزیر امور خارجه ایتالیا، نیز اعلام کرده بود که این کشور در نشست روز پنجشنبه شورای وزیران امور خارجه اتحادیه اروپا در بروکسل، پیشنهاد قرار دادن سپاه پاسداران جمهوری اسلامی در فهرست سازمان‌های تروریستی اتحادیه اروپا را مطرح خواهد کرد؛ موضعی که نشان‌دهنده تغییر رویکرد رم در قبال یکی از مناقشه‌برانگیزترین پرونده‌های سیاست خارجی اروپا درباره حکومت ایران است.
