In its latest sanctions package against the Islamic Republic, the European Union has imposed sanctions on 15 government and security officials and 6 entities in response to the repression and killing of protesters during the Iranian national uprising, citing "serious human rights violations." This decision was finalized on Thursday during a meeting of EU foreign ministers.

According to this sanctions package, Iskander Momeni, the Minister of Interior, Mohammad Mohammadi Azad, the Attorney General, Majid Faiz Jafari, the head of public security police, Ahmad Ali Faizollah, the commander of the Saberin special forces brigade of the Revolutionary Guards, Iman Afshari, a judge in Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, and Ali Abdollahi Ali Abadi, the commander of the Central Headquarters of Khatam al-Anbiya, have been sanctioned due to their direct role in suppressing protests and committing deadly violence against demonstrators.

Continuing this list, the names of Rouhollah Momen Nasab, the head of the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice Office in Tehran Province, Haidar Alfti, the commander of the Revolutionary Guards in Ilam Province, Morteza Sheikhi, the commander of the Revolutionary Guards in the city of Azna, Ali Asghar Pourbehest, the commander of the Revolutionary Guards and Basij in Kohgiluyeh County, and Alireza Noshad, the commander of the Law Enforcement Force in Marvdasht, are also included.
