CBS journalist tweet: Trump tells me that he has had discussions with Iranian officials in the past few days and intends to continue these discussions.
He says: "Right now, a lot of very large and very powerful ships are heading towards Iran. And it would be great if we don't have to use them. I told them two things: first, no to nuclear weapons. Second, stop killing protesters. ... They have to do something."
He made these remarks on the red carpet at the premiere of the film "Melania."

The President of the United States responded, "I told them two things. First, no to nuclear weapons, and second, stop the killing of protesters. They are killing thousands of them. You know, two weeks ago I prevented 837 executions, but they have to do something. No one has seen anything like this [massacre]."
U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin warned the Islamic Republic during a cabinet meeting on Thursday, saying, "They should not seek to acquire nuclear capabilities, and we are ready to execute whatever the President expects from the Department of Defense."
