Before the 12-day war, Trump had given Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, a 60-day deadline for "complete surrender," and at the end of the sixtieth day, the attack took place. Just hours earlier, Trump also mentioned the deployment of a new aircraft carrier to the region, stating that we are sending this carrier to use it if we do not reach an agreement.

ترامپ پیش از جنگ ۱۲ روزه در نامه‌ای به علی خامنه‌ای، رهبر جمهوری اسلامی، مهلتی ۶۰ روزه برای «تسلیم کامل» داده بود و در پایان شصتمین روز، حمله انجام شد. ترامپ ساعتی قبل نیز درباره اعزام ناو هواپیمابر جدید به منطقه گفته بود که این ناو را می‌فرستیم که در صورت دست نیافتن به توافق، از آن استفاده کنیم.
