Statements made by the President of the United States in his annual speech about Iran.

Donald Trump, midway through his speech, referred to the wars he claimed to have ended and spoke about Iran, saying: "As President, wherever peace can be established, I will do so, but if America is threatened anywhere, I do not hesitate to respond. That is why, last June, in the breathtaking operation 'Midnight Hammer,' the U.S. military attacked Iranian territory and destroyed Iran's nuclear weapons program. For decades, U.S. policy has been to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons."

The President of the United States continued: "Since 47 years ago, when they took control of that proud country, this regime and its murderous affiliated forces have exported nothing but terrorism, death, and hatred. They have killed and injured thousands of American soldiers and hundreds of thousands or millions of people with roadside bombs. They are the kings of roadside bombs. During my first term, we killed Soleimani. He was the father of roadside bombs. And just recently, they killed at least 32,000 protesters in their own country. They shot them and hanged them. We prevented many executions through threats. They are bad people. They have now succeeded in building missiles that threaten Europe and our bases abroad. They are working on missiles that can reach the United States."

Mr. Trump also referred to the attack last summer on Iran's nuclear facilities, saying: "After 'Midnight Hammer,' they were warned not to rebuild their weapons program. Especially not to build nuclear weapons. However, they did it, we destroyed it, and they started again. And now they have resumed their ambitions regarding their evil nuclear program. We are negotiating with them, and they want an agreement, but we have not heard those sacred words saying, 'We will not have nuclear weapons.'"

In conclusion, he said about Iran: "My preference is to solve their problem through diplomacy, but one thing I am sure of: I will never allow the world's biggest sponsor of terrorism to acquire nuclear weapons."

دونالد ترامپ در نیمه‌های سخنرانی خود به موضوع جنگ‌هایی که مدعی پایان دادن به آنها شد اشاره کرد و درباره ایران هم گفت: «در مقام رئیس جمهوری، هر جا که بشود صلح برقرار می‌کنم، اما اگر در هرجایی آمریکا تهدید شود، الزاما در برخورد با آن به خودم شک نمی‌دهم. برای همین بود که در ژوئن سال پیش، در عملیات نفس‌گیرِ «چکش نیمه‌شب» ارتش ایالات متحده در با حمله به خاک ایران برنامه سلاح‌های هسته‌ای ایران را نابود کرد. دهه‌ها سیاست ایالات متحده این بود که اجازه ندهد ایران به سلاح‌های هسته‌ای دست پیدا کند.»

رئیس جمهور امریکا در ادامه گفت: «از ۴۷ سال پیش که اینها کنترل آن کشور پرغرور را دست گرفتند، این رژیم و نیروهای وابسته‌ی قاتل آنها به جز تروریسم و مرگ و نفرت چیزی صادر نکردند. آنها با بمب‌های کنار جاده‌ای هزاران سرباز آمریکایی، صدها هزار یا میلیون‌ها آدم را کشته و مجروح کردند. آنها پادشاه بمب‌های کنار جاده‌ای هستند. ما در دوره اول ریاست جمهوری من، سلیمانی را کشتیم. او پدر بمب‌های کنار جاده‌ای بود. و همین اواخر آنها دست کم ۳۲ هزار معترض را در کشور خودشان کشتند. به آنها شلیک کردند و به دارآویختند. ما با تهدید جلوی اعدام‌های زیادی را گرفتیم. آدم‌های بدی هستند. آنها هم‌اکنون موفق به ساخت موشک‌هایی شده‌اند که اروپا و پایگاه‌های ما در خارج از کشور را تهدید می‌کند. آنها مشغول ساخت موشک‌هایی هستند که به ایالات متحده برسد.»

آقای ترامپ همچنین به حمله تابستان گذشته به تاسیسات هسته‌ای ایران اشاره کردو گفت: «بعد از «چکش نیمه‌شب» به آنها هشدار داده شد که برنامه تسلیحاتی خود را بازسازی نکنند. سلاح‌های هسته‌ای را به خصوص نسازند. با این حال این کار را کردند ما از بین بردیم و دوباره شروع کردند. و هم اکنون دوباره بلند‌پروازی‌های خود در زمینه برنامه هسته‌ای شیطانی‌شان را از سر گرفته‌اند. ما با آنها در حال مذاکره هستیم و آنها توافق می‌خواهند اما ما این کلمات مقدس را نشنیده‌ایم که بگویند «ما سلاح هسته‌ای نخواهیم داشت.»

وی در پایان سخنان خود درباره ایران گفت: «ترجیح من این است که مشکل آنها با دیپلماسی حل شود اما از یک چیز مطمئنم: من هیچ‌وقت اجازه نمی‌دهم که بزرگ‌ترین حامی ترور در جهان به سلاح هسته‌ای دست پیدا کند.»
