A U.S. official has told Fox News that the United States believes that Ali Khamenei and between 5 to 10 senior officials of the Islamic Republic were killed in Israel's initial attack on a compound in Tehran, and Washington agrees with Israel's intelligence assessment regarding this matter.

A senior U.S. defense official also told Fox that the U.S. government concurs with Israel's assessment that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with 5 to 10 other senior officials of the Islamic Republic who were in a meeting in Tehran on Saturday morning, were killed. A senior commander of the Revolutionary Guard was also killed in this attack.

According to several sources, the timing of this attack was advanced based on gathered intelligence and due to a "target-of-opportunity." Officials told Fox: "A conscious decision was made to accelerate the timeline."

For this reason, the U.S. and Israel made an unusual decision and conducted the attack during the day to achieve an element of surprise and target this meeting. Typically, the U.S. military does not carry out operations like this during the day. This meeting expedited the timing of the attack.

A senior U.S. defense official told Fox: "This was a broad and extremely bold attack in broad daylight."

He added: "This attack caught senior leadership off guard; on Saturday morning, during Ramadan and coinciding with Shabbat, in broad daylight."

This official also stated: "We targeted senior leaders from the very beginning." (The targeted attack was carried out by Israel.)

یک مقام آمریکایی به شبکهٔ فاکس گفته است که ایالات متحده بر این باور است علی خامنه‌ای و بین ۵ تا ۱۰ نفر از مقام‌های ارشد جمهوری اسلامی در حملهٔ اولیهٔ اسرائیل به یک مجموعه در تهران کشته شده‌اند و واشینگتن با ارزیابی اطلاعاتی اسرائیل در این‌باره موافق است.

یک مقام ارشد دفاعی آمریکا نیز به فاکس گفته است که دولت ایالات متحده با ارزیابی اسرائیل موافق است مبنی بر این‌که آیت‌الله علی خامنه‌ای، همراه با ۵ تا ۱۰ تن دیگر از مقام‌های ارشد جمهوری اسلامی که صبح شنبه در یک مجموعه در تهران جلسه داشتند، کشته شده‌اند. فرمانده ارشد سپاه پاسداران نیز در این حمله کشته شده است.

به گفتهٔ چند منبع، زمان‌بندی این حمله بر اساس اطلاعات به‌دست‌آمده و به دلیل «هدفِ فرصت‌محور» جلو افتاده است. مقام‌ها به فاکس گفته‌اند: «تصمیمی آگاهانه برای تسریع در جدول زمانی گرفته شد.»

به همین دلیل، آمریکا و اسرائیل تصمیمی غیرمعمول گرفتند و برای دستیابی به عنصر غافلگیری و هدف قرار دادن این جلسه، در طول روز دست به حمله زدند. به طور معمول، ارتش آمریکا عملیاتی از این دست را در روز انجام نمی‌دهد. این جلسه باعث تسریع در زمان اجرای حمله شد.

یک مقام ارشد دفاعی آمریکا به فاکس گفته است: «این یک حملهٔ گسترده و به‌شدت جسورانه در روز روشن بود.»

او افزوده است: «این حمله، رهبری ارشد را غافلگیر کرد؛ صبح شنبه، در ماه رمضان و هم‌زمان با شَبات، آن هم در روشنای روز.»

این مقام همچنین گفته است: «ما از همان ابتدا رهبران ارشد را هدف قرار دادیم.» (حملهٔ هدفمند را اسرائیل انجام داد.)
