U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegst announced in a message on X that, at the direction of the President of the United States, an air operation known as "Epic Fury" has begun against the Islamic Republic; an operation he described as the deadliest, most complex, and precise air operation in history.

He emphasized that Iran's missile infrastructure and naval capabilities, given their history of targeting and killing Americans over the past decades, will be the targets of the attack and will be destroyed. Hegst also stated, "Iran will never acquire nuclear weapons."

At the end of this message, the U.S. Secretary of Defense added, "The United States did not start this conflict, but it will end it. If you kill or threaten Americans anywhere in the world — as Iran has done — we will hunt you down and kill you."

پیت هگست، وزیر جنگ ایالات متحده، در پیامی در شبکه اکس اعلام کرد به دستور رئیس‌جمهور آمریکا عملیات هوایی موسوم به «خشم حماسی» علیه جمهوری اسلامی آغاز شده است؛ عملیاتی که او آن را مرگبارترین، پیچیده‌ترین و دقیق‌ترین عملیات هوایی تاریخ توصیف کرد.

او با به اشاره به سابقه جمهوری اسلامی در هدف قرار دادن و کشتن آمریکایی‌ها در دهه‌های گذشته، تأکید کرد زیرساخت‌های موشکی و توان دریایی ایران هدف حمله قرار گرفته و نابود خواهد شد. هگست همچنین تصریح کرد: «ایران هرگز به سلاح هسته‌ای دست نخواهد یافت.»

وزیر جنگ آمریکا در پایان این پیام افزود: «ایالات متحده این درگیری را آغاز نکرد، اما آن را پایان خواهد داد. اگر در هر نقطه‌ای از جهان آمریکایی‌ها را بکشید یا تهدید کنید — همان‌گونه که ایران کرده است — ما شما را تعقیب خواهیم کرد و خواهیم کشت.»
