Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced in an interview with The Atlantic magazine that officials from the Islamic Republic have expressed a desire to talk to him, and he has agreed to this request.

Trump said, "They want to talk, and I have agreed to talk, so I will speak with them. They should have done this sooner. They should have accepted what was very practical and easy much earlier. They waited too long."

In response to the question of whether the talks with the Iranians will happen today or tomorrow, he said, "I can't tell you that."

Trump also noted that some of the people who played a role in the negotiations in recent weeks are no longer alive, adding, "Most of those people are gone. Some of the people we were negotiating with are no longer here because that was a big attack. They should have done this sooner, Michael. They could have reached an agreement. They should have done it earlier. They played too many games."

When asked about the possibility of continued support if the overthrow of the regime takes time, Trump did not give a definitive answer and said, "I need to assess the situation when it happens."

The Atlantic magazine reported that Donald Trump expressed confidence in the interview that a successful uprising in Iran is on the way, pointing to signs of joy in the streets of Iran and supportive gatherings of Iranians abroad in New York and Los Angeles.

In this conversation, Trump said, "This will happen. You will see it, and I think it will happen. Many people there and in Los Angeles and in many other places are very happy."

He also mentioned that he is pleased with the reaction of the Iranian people so far, adding, "I know it is very dangerous, and I know I have told everyone to stay in their place. I think it is a very dangerous place right now. People there are shouting joyfully in the streets, but at the same time, many bombs are falling."

دونالد ترامپ، رییس‌جمهوری آمریکا، در گفت‌وگو با مجله آتلانتیک اعلام کرد مقام‌های جمهوری اسلامی خواهان گفت‌وگو با او شدند و او نیز با این درخواست موافقت کرده است.

ترامپ گفت: «آنها می‌خواهند گفت‌وگو کنند و من هم با گفت‌وگو موافقت کرده‌ام، بنابراین با آنها صحبت خواهم کرد. باید زودتر این کار را می‌کردند. باید آنچه بسیار عملی و آسان بود را زودتر می‌پذیرفتند. آنها بیش از حد صبر کردند.»

او در پاسخ به این پرسش که آیا گفت‌وگو با ایرانی‌ها امروز یا فردا انجام می‌شود، گفت: «نمی‌توانم این را به شما بگویم.»

ترامپ همچنین اشاره کرد برخی از افرادی که در هفته‌های اخیر در مذاکرات نقش داشتند، دیگر زنده نیستند و افزود: «بیشتر آن افراد از میان رفته‌اند. برخی از افرادی که با آنها در حال مذاکره بودیم، دیگر نیستند، چون آن حمله بزرگی بود. آنها باید زودتر این کار را می‌کردند، مایکل. می‌توانستند به توافق برسند. باید زودتر انجام می‌دادند. بیش از حد زرنگ‌بازی درآوردند.»
در پاسخ به پرسشی درباره احتمال ادامه حمایت در صورت زمان‌بر بودن سرنگونی حکومت، ترامپ پاسخ قطعی نداد و گفت: «باید وضعیت را در زمانی که رخ می‌دهد بررسی کنم.»

مجله آتلانتیک نوشت دونالد ترامپ در مصاحبه با این رسانه ابراز اطمینان کرده است که یک خیزش موفق در ایران در راه است و به نشانه‌هایی از شادی در خیابان‌های ایران و تجمع‌های حمایتی ایرانیان خارج از کشور در نیویورک و لس‌آنجلس اشاره کرده است.

ترامپ در این گفت‌وگو گفت: «این اتفاق خواهد افتاد. شما آن را می‌بینید و من فکر می‌کنم رخ خواهد داد. افراد زیادی آنجا و در لس‌آنجلس و در بسیاری از مکان‌های دیگر بسیار خوشحال هستند.»

او همچنین گفت از واکنش مردم ایران تا این لحظه خرسند است و افزود: «می‌دانم که بسیار خطرناک است و می‌دانم که به همه گفته‌ام در جای خود بمانند. فکر می‌کنم اکنون مکان بسیار خطرناکی است. مردم آنجا با شادی در خیابان‌ها فریاد می‌زنند، اما در عین حال بمب‌های زیادی در حال فرود آمدن است.»
