Jonathan Karl, ABC's senior reporter, quoted the President of the United States as saying:
The individuals identified as potential next leaders of the Islamic Republic were all killed in the initial attack.
He quoted Trump, who spoke with Karl over the phone, saying: "This attack was so successful that it eliminated most of the candidates we had considered for leadership of the Islamic Republic, and no one is going to take power now that we had previously thought about, because they are all dead. Even the second and third in line have been killed."
