On Tuesday, March 3, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing U.S. officials, that Donald Trump, the President of the United States, is considering support for armed groups within Iran.

According to the report, Trump has recently made phone calls to Kurdish leaders and continues to reach out to other regional (local) actors who may attempt to exploit what the U.S. sees as the "vulnerability of the Islamic Republic."

Axios had previously reported for the first time on Trump's phone calls with Masoud Barzani and Bafel Talabani, leaders of the Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in Iraq here.

The Wall Street Journal noted that Kurdish forces have a significant presence near the Iraq-Iran border, and recent attacks in western Iran have fueled speculation about the impact of changes in the battlefield dynamics on potential advancements.

The Wall Street Journal reported that no final decision has yet been made regarding whether Washington will provide material support, such as weapons, training, or intelligence, to opposition groups. U.S. officials say these matters are still under review.

وال‌استریت‌‌ ژورنال روز سه‌شنبه ۱۲ اسفند به نقل از مقام‌های رسمی آمریکا گزارش داد دونالد ترامپ، رئیس جمهوری ایالات متحده حمایت از گروه‌های مسلح در داخل ایران را بررسی می‌کند.
بر اساس این گزارش، ترامپ اخیرا با رهبران کرد تماس تلفنی برقرار کرده و به تماس با سایر بازیگران منطقه‌ای (محلی) که ممکن است سعی در بهره‌برداری از آنچه آمریکا «آسیب‌پذیری جمهوری اسلامی» می‌داند، داشته باشند، ادامه داده است.

آکسیوس یک روز پیش از این برای نخستین بار از تماس تلفنی دونالد ترامپ با مسعود بارزانی و بافل طالبانی، رهبران احزاب دموکرات و اتحادیه میهنی اقلیم کردستان عراق خبر داده بود.

براساس این گزارش وال‌استریت ژورنال نیروهای کرد حضور قابل توجهی در نزدیکی مرز عراق و ایران دارند و حملات اخیر در غرب ایران گمانه‌زنی‌هایی را مبنی بر اثر تغییر روند تحول (دینامیسم) میدان نبرد بر پیشرفت‌های احتمالی، تقویت کرده است.

وال استریت ژورنال گزارش داد که هنوز تصمیم نهایی در مورد اینکه آیا واشنگتن کمک‌های مادی، مانند سلاح، آموزش یا اطلاعات، به گروه‌های مخالف رژیم ارائه خواهد داد یا خیر، گرفته نشده است. مقام‌های آمریکایی می‌گویند که این موضوعات همچنان در دست بررسی است.
