دونالد ترامپ، در پاسخ به سوالی درباره اینکه آیا شاهزاده رضا پهلوی گزینه بعدی رهبری ایران خواهد بود، گفت: فکر می‌کنم بعضی‌ها او را دوست دارند، اما ما خیلی به این موضوع فکر نکرده‌ایم. اما به نظرم کسی که در داخل و دارای محبوبیت مناسبت‌تر خواهد بود؛ اگر چنین فردی وجود داشته باشد.

او افزود: ما افرادی از این دست داریم؛ کسانی که میانه‌روتر هستند. می‌دانید، این‌ها افراطی‌های دیوانه بودند و می‌دانید چه نصیبشان می‌شود؟ هیچ. تنها کاری که می‌کنند کشتن مردم است.
