عباس عراقچی وزیر خارجه جمهوری اسلامی روز یکشنبه در گفتگوروزنامه قطری «العربی الجدید» مدعی شد آمریکا و اسرائیل اهدافی در کشورهای عربی را مورد هجوم خود قرار می‌دهند تا به روابط آنها با ایران ضربه بزند.
عراقچی با تاکید بر اینکه «حملات جمهوری اسلامی تنها علیه پایگاه‌ها و منافع آمریکا در منطقه است»،‌ گفت: «ما آماده‌ایم با کشورهای منطقه یک کمیته حقیقت‌یاب برای بررسی اهدافی که مورد حمله قرار گرفتند، تشکیل دهیم.»
وزیر خارجه جمهوری اسلامی مدعی شد: «آمریکایی‌ها پهپادی مشابه پهپاد ما به نام لوکاس ساخته‌اند و با آن اهدافی در کشورهای عربی را مورد هجوم خود قرار می‌دهند.»

این اظهارات پس از آن مطرح شد که روزنامه «نیویورک پست» گزارش داد پلیس فدرال آمریکا (اف‌بی‌آی) به نهادهای پلیس در ایالت کالیفرنیا درباره احتمال حمله‌ای مرتبط با جمهوری اسلامی هشدار داده است.
بر اساس این گزارش، این هشدار در شرایطی صادر شده که تدابیر امنیتی در لس‌آنجلس در آستانه برگزاری مراسم اسکار افزایش یافته و پلیس این شهر در حالت آماده‌باش قرار گرفته است. اف‌بی‌آی تاکنون به طور رسمی درباره جزئیات این تهدیدها اظهار نظر نکرده است.
