The Israeli army claims to have targeted and killed Gholamreza Soleimani, the head of the Basij Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in Tehran. At the same time, Israeli media reported that Ali Larijani, the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, was also targeted. Iranian media have not yet confirmed these reports.

Brigadier General Gholamreza Soleimani was appointed as the head of the Basij Organization in the summer of 2019 by Ali Khamenei, the former leader of the Islamic Republic.

According to the Israeli army, these attacks took place in Tehran, Shiraz, and Tabriz. Israel claims to have bombed "various security bases, including those belonging to the Ministry of Intelligence, the Basij, as well as locations used for storing and launching drones, ballistic missiles, and air defense systems."

Meanwhile, Aviv Kochavi, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, stated that the country targeted a safe house in Tehran during the attacks early Tuesday morning.

ارتش اسرائیل می‌گوید غلامرضا سلیمانی، رئیس سازمان بسیج سپاه پاسداران انقلاب اسلامی، را در تهران هدف حمله قرار داده و کشته است. همزمان رسانه‌های اسرائیل از هدف قرار گرفتن علی لاریجانی، دبیر شورای عالی امنیت ملی ایران، خبر دادند. رسانه‌های ایران هنوز این خبرها را تأیید نکرده‌اند.

سرتیپ پاسدار غلامرضا سلیمانی از تابستان ۱۳۹۸ با حکم علی خامنه‌ای، رهبر پیشین جمهوری اسلامی، به ریاست سازمان بسیج منصوب شده بود.

به‌گفتهٔ ارتش اسرائیل این حملات در تهران، شیراز و تبریز انجام شد. اسرائیل می‌گوید در این حملات «مقرهای امنیتی مختلفی از جمله متعلق به وزارت اطلاعات، بسیج و همچنین مکان‌هایی را که برای ذخیره و پرتاب پهپادها، موشک‌های بالستیک و سیستم‌های پدافند هوایی استفاده می‌شد»، بمباران کرده است.

در همین حال، ایال زمیر، رئیس ستاد کل ارتش اسرائیل، گفت که این کشور در جریان حملات بامداد سه‌شنبه، یک خانهٔ امن در تهران را هدف قرار داده است.
