Saudi Arabia announced on Wednesday that the country's air defense is engaged in countering ballistic missiles; this comes as French and Reuters news agencies reported hearing explosions in the sky over Riyadh, the capital of the country.

The Saudi Ministry of Defense stated in a post on X, quoting a spokesperson: "Air defense is dealing with a ballistic threat in Riyadh." Residents also received a phone alert stating: "This area is under aerial threat from the enemy."
Saudi Arabia has repeatedly been targeted by Iranian missile and drone attacks following the onset of the war between Iran and the U.S. and Israel.
After Wednesday's attacks on the South Pars gas facilities, the Revolutionary Guard threatened to target energy facilities in several Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia.

عربستان سعودی روز چهارشنبه اعلام کرد که پدافند هوایی این کشور در حال مقابله با موشک‌های بالستیک است؛ این در حالی است که خبرگزاری‌های فرانسه و رویترز شنیده شدن صدای انفجارهایی را در آسمان ریاض، پایتخت این کشور، گزارش داده‌اند.

وزارت دفاع عربستان در بیانیه‌ای در شبکه ایکس به نقل از یک سخنگو اعلام کرد: «پدافند هوایی در حال مقابله با یک تهدید بالستیک در ریاض است.»
ساکنان نیز یک هشدار تلفنی دریافت کردند که در آن آمده بود: «این منطقه تحت تهدید هوایی دشمن قرار دارد.»
عربستان سعودی در پی آغاز جنگ ایران با آمریکا و اسرائیل به‌طور مکرر هدف حملات موشکی و پهپادی ایران قرار گرفته است.
پس از حملات چهارشنبه به تأسیسات گازی پارس جنوبی، سپاه پاسداران تهدید کرد تأسیسات انرژی در چند کشور حاشیه خلیج فارس ازجمله عربستان سعودی را هدف قرار خواهد داد.
