Donald Trump, the President of the United States, rejected reports from some media outlets suggesting that Washington is eager to negotiate during a cabinet press conference, stating that it is the other side that is "begging" to reach an agreement with him. Trump referred to the Wall Street Journal's reports as "fake news," saying that anyone who is aware of the ground situation understands why they are desperately trying to strike a deal.

He sarcastically commented on the capabilities of the other side, saying: "They are not stupid and, in fact, they are very smart negotiators; although I believe they are terrible fighters." Trump expressed doubt about the future of diplomacy, adding: "They should have acted four weeks ago or even two years ago. Now, I don't know if we will even be able to reach an agreement or if we are willing to do so."

دونالد ترامپ، رئیس‌جمهوری آمریکا، در نشست خبری کابینه با رد گزارش‌های برخی رسانه‌ها مبنی بر اشتیاق واشنگتن برای مذاکره، گفت که این طرف مقابل است که برای رسیدن به توافق با او «التماس» می‌کند. ترامپ با «اخبار جعلی» خواندن گزارش‌های وال‌استریت‌ژورنال، گفت هر کسی که از وضعیت میدانی باخبر باشد، می‌فهمد که چرا آن‌ها به شدت به دنبال جوش دادن یک معامله هستند.

او با لحنی کنایه‌آمیز به توانمندی‌های طرف مقابل اشاره کرد و گفت: «آن‌ها احمق نیستند و اتفاقا مذاکره‌کنندگان بسیار باهوشی هستند؛ هرچند من معتقدم جنگجویان افتضاحی هستند.»
