Axios news agency reported that Donald Trump officially appointed his deputy, J.D. Vance, to lead the United States' efforts to end the war with Iran during a cabinet meeting on Thursday.

Vance, who previously had doubts about the onset of this conflict, has now had several calls with Benjamin Netanyahu and has also participated in indirect communications with the Iranians.

A White House official told Axios that Vance's track record of opposing endless wars makes him a more attractive negotiator for Tehran compared to Kushner and Witkoff. This source stated, "If the Iranians can't reach an agreement with Vance, they won't be able to with anyone else; he is the best option they have."

However, Axios wrote that Vance's advisors believe some in Israel are trying to undermine him due to his "not aggressive enough" approach; a claim that Israeli officials deny. Currently, Vance expects the war to continue for several more weeks, and the White House has emphasized that the ball is now in Iran's court to decide how to approach the negotiation table.

پایگاه خبری آکسیوس گزارش داد که دونالد ترامپ در نشست روز پنجشنبه کابینه، رسما جی‌دی ونس، معاون خود را مامور هدایت تلاش‌های ایالات متحده برای پایان دادن به جنگ با ایران کرد.

ونس که پیش‌تر نسبت به آغاز این نبرد تردید داشت، اکنون چندین تماس با بنیامین نتانیاهو داشته و در ارتباطات غیرمستقیم با ایرانی‌ها نیز مشارکت کرده است.

یک مقام کاخ سفید به آکسیوس گفت سوابق ونس در مخالفت با جنگ‌های بی‌پایان، او را به مذاکره‌کننده‌ای جذاب‌تر برای تهران نسبت به کوشنر و ویتکاف تبدیل کرده است. این منبع در این باره گفت: «اگر ایرانی‌ها نتوانند با ونس به توافق برسند، با هیچ‌کس دیگری نخواهند توانست؛ او بهترین گزینه‌ای است که نصیبشان می‌شود.»

با این حال، آکسیوس نوشت که مشاوران ونس معتقدند برخی در اسرائیل به دلیل «کافی نبودن رویکرد تهاجمی» او، در صدد تخریبش هستند؛ ادعایی که مقامات اسرائیلی آن را تکذیب می‌کنند. در حال حاضر، ونس انتظار دارد جنگ تا چند هفته دیگر ادامه یابد و کاخ سفید تاکید کرده است که توپ اکنون در زمین ایران است تا درباره نحوه حضور بر سر میز مذاکره تصمیم بگیرد.
