The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran has "prevented" two Chinese container ships from passing through the Strait of Hormuz. These two ships were forced to change course and turn back near Lark Island.

The newspaper described the Iranian government's action as "unusual," as Iran had allowed several Chinese ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz in recent days.

Just hours before the Wall Street Journal's report, the Revolutionary Guard issued a statement saying that on Friday morning, "three container ships of various nationalities attempted to move towards the designated corridor for authorized vessels, but were turned back by a warning from the Navy of the Revolutionary Guard."

In this statement, the Revolutionary Guard emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is closed. This action by the Revolutionary Guard comes at a time when officials of the Islamic Republic have repeatedly stated in recent days that the Strait of Hormuz is only closed to American and Israeli ships and the countries supporting them.

روزنامه وال‌استریت‌ جورنال خبر داد که ایران «مانع» عبور دو کشتی کانتینری چینی از تنگه هرمز شده است. این دو کشتی مجبور شده‌اند در نزدیکی جزیره لارک تغییر مسیر بدهند و بازگردند.

این روزنامه اقدام حکومت ایران را «غیرمعمول» خوانده است، چرا که ایران در روزهای گذشته به چند کشتی چینی اجازه عبور از تنگه هرمز را داده بود.

ساعاتی پیش از انتشار خبر روزنامه وال‌استریت‌ جورنال، سپاه پاسداران با انتشار بیانیه‌ای گفته بود صبح روز جمعه «سه فروند کشتی کانتینربر از ملیت‌های مختلف اقدام به حرکت به سمت کریدور مشخص شده تردد کشتی‌های دارای مجوز کردند که با اخطار نیروی دریایی سپاه برگردانده شدند.»

سپاه در این بیانیه بر بسته بودن تنگه هرمز تاکید کرده بود. این اقدام سپاه پاسداران در حالی انجام می‌شود که مقام‌های جمهوری اسلامی در روزهای اخیر بارها گفته بودند که تنگه هرمز تنها بر کشتی‌های آمریکایی و اسرائیلی و کشورهای حامی آنها بسته است.
