Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, described the attack on the Islamic Republic in a video message to the people of the country as "necessary and timely."

He stated that the Islamic Republic is seeking to acquire nuclear weapons and, contrary to its claims, has been advancing its nuclear program secretly and with military capabilities. According to Rubio, this country has repeatedly rejected the opportunity to have a purely civilian nuclear program.

Rubio emphasized that the reason for military action at this time is the Islamic Republic's efforts to create a "defensive shield" through the accumulation of missiles and drones; an action that, according to him, could make any prevention of acquiring nuclear weapons impossible in the future.

The U.S. Secretary of State identified the goal of the operation as the destruction of the Islamic Republic's missile and drone capabilities, stating that this action was taken to compel Tehran to engage in serious negotiations and to permanently prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons.

مارکو روبیو، وزیر خارجه آمریکا، در پیامی ویدیویی خطاب به مردم این کشور، حمله به جمهوری اسلامی را «ضروری و به‌موقع» توصیف کرد.

او گفت جمهوری اسلامی به‌دنبال دستیابی به سلاح هسته‌ای است و برخلاف ادعاهایش، برنامه هسته‌ای خود را به‌صورت مخفیانه و با قابلیت نظامی پیش برده است. به گفته روبیو، این کشور بارها فرصت داشتن برنامه هسته‌ای صرفاً غیرنظامی را رد کرده است.

روبیو تأکید کرد دلیل اقدام نظامی در این مقطع، تلاش جمهوری اسلامی برای ایجاد «سپر دفاعی» از طریق انباشت موشک‌ها و پهپادها بوده؛ اقدامی که به گفته او می‌توانست هرگونه جلوگیری از دستیابی به سلاح هسته‌ای را در آینده غیرممکن کند.

وزیر خارجه آمریکا هدف عملیات را نابودی توان موشکی و پهپادی جمهوری اسلامی عنوان کرد و گفت این اقدام برای وادار کردن تهران به مذاکره جدی و جلوگیری دائمی از دستیابی به سلاح هسته‌ای انجام شده است.
