Hamid Rasai, a member of parliament, called on the judiciary to arrest former President Hassan Rouhani and his foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif with a "judicial ruling shot" following their statements about the necessity of ending the war.

This request came after Mohammad Javad Zarif presented a framework for ending the conflicts in an article in "Foreign Affairs," emphasizing that any agreement must be "beyond a temporary ceasefire." He wrote that a ceasefire without addressing the root causes of the crisis only leads to a postponement of conflicts.

Zarif proposed that Iran continue uranium enrichment at a limited level under full international supervision as part of a multilateral agreement and refrain from moving towards producing nuclear weapons. He also called for the lifting of economic sanctions and the signing of a "non-aggression pact" between Iran and the United States.

Hassan Rouhani also stated that there must be readiness for an "honorable" end to the war for the benefit of the country and the people, emphasizing the necessity of coordinating resources to prevent aggression against the islands in the Persian Gulf and to maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz. He added that preserving the country and the regime requires immediate reforms in policymaking.

حمید رسایی، نماینده مجلس، در پی اظهارات حسن روحانی و محمدجواد ظریف درباره لزوم پایان جنگ، از قوه قضاییه خواست با «شلیک حکم قضایی» رییس جمهوری پیشین و وزیر امور خارجه دولت او را بازداشت کند.
این درخواست در حالی مطرح شد که محمدجواد ظریف در مقاله‌ای در مجله «فارن‌افرز» چارچوبی برای پایان درگیری‌ها ارایه کرد و تاکید کرد هر توافقی باید «فراتر از یک آتش‌بس موقت» باشد.
او نوشت آتش‌بس بدون پرداختن به ریشه‌های بحران، تنها به تعویق درگیری‌ها منجر می‌شود.
ظریف پیشنهاد داد ایران در قالب توافقی چندجانبه، غنی‌سازی اورانیوم را در سطحی محدود و تحت نظارت کامل بین‌المللی ادامه دهد و از حرکت به سمت تولید سلاح هسته‌ای خودداری کند. او همچنین خواستار لغو تحریم‌های اقتصادی و امضای «پیمان عدم تجاوز» میان ایران و آمریکا شد.
حسن روحانی نیز گفت باید برای پایان «عزتمندانه» جنگ به نفع کشور و مردم آمادگی داشت و بر ضرورت هماهنگی امکانات برای جلوگیری از تعرض به جزایر خلیج فارس و حفظ کنترل تنگه هرمز تاکید کرد. او افزود حفظ کشور و نظام مستلزم اصلاحات فوری در سیاست‌گذاری‌هاست.
