The New York Times reported on the rescue operation of an American fighter pilot in Iran, stating that the CIA attempted to buy time by spreading false information in Iran about the officer's discovery and his transfer out of the country, aiming to mislead the Islamic Republic forces away from his actual hiding location.

The report mentioned that this officer evaded the Islamic Republic forces for over 24 hours and hid at an altitude of about 7,000 feet. After the location was identified, the information was relayed to the Pentagon and the White House, and the rescue operation was carried out with the participation of hundreds of special forces and other military personnel.

The New York Times added that during the operation, the U.S. military bombed the area to keep the Islamic Republic forces at bay, and the commandos fired shots as they approached the hiding spot, but there was no direct confrontation. After the rescue, the officer was transferred to Kuwait for treatment.

نیویورک‌تایمز در گزارشی درباره عملیات نجات خدمه یک جنگنده آمریکایی در ایران نوشت سازمان سیا برای خرید زمان، با انتشار اطلاعات نادرست در ایران درباره پیدا شدن افسر و انتقال او از کشور، تلاش کرد نیروهای جمهوری اسلامی را از محل واقعی اختفای او دور کند.

در این گزارش آمده: این افسر بیش از ۲۴ ساعت از نیروهای جمهوری اسلامی گریخت و در ارتفاع حدود ۷ هزار پا پنهان شد. پس از شناسایی محل، اطلاعات به پنتاگون و کاخ سفید منتقل شد و عملیات نجات با مشارکت صدها نیروی ویژه و دیگر پرسنل نظامی اجرا شد.

نیویورک‌تایمز افزود: در جریان عملیات، ارتش آمریکا برای دور نگه داشتن نیروهای جمهوری اسلامی منطقه را بمباران کرد و نیروهای کماندو هنگام نزدیک شدن به محل اختفا شلیک کردند، اما درگیری مستقیم رخ نداد. این افسر پس از نجات برای درمان به کویت منتقل شده است.
