Donald Trump, the President of the United States, said during the Easter ceremony at the White House that if it were up to him, U.S. forces would remain in Iran and take control of the oil resources.
He emphasized, "My choice was to stay there, take the oil, and generate revenue; I would take much better care of the people of Iran."
He added, "But at the same time, I want the people of our own country to be satisfied. I think many people don't understand this."
Trump, referring to the protests in December, stated that "45,000 protesters" had been killed until about a month and a half ago. He described this figure as a sign of the "very terrible" situation in Iran.

دونالد ترامپ، رئیسجمهور آمریکا، در حاشیه مراسم عید پاک در کاخ سفید گفت اگر تصمیم با او بود، نیروهای آمریکا در ایران میماند و کنترل منابع نفتی را در اختیار میگرفتند.
او تأکید کرد: «انتخاب من این بود که میماندم آنجا, نفت را میگرفتم و درآمدزایی میکردم؛ از مردم ایران هم خیلی بهتر مراقبت میکردم.»
او افزود: «اما در عین حال میخواهم مردم کشور خودمان هم راضی باشند. فکر میکنم خیلیها این را درک نکنند»
ترامپ با اشاره به اعتراضات دیماه گفت تا حدود یک ماه و نیم پیش «۴۵ هزار معترض» کشته شدهاند. اواین آمار را نشانه وضعیت «بسیار وحشتناک» در ایران توصیف کرد.
