Elina Shirazi, a reporter for the Daily Mail, asked during a press conference at the White House on Wednesday, April 19, about her family's situation in Iran, what the people of Iran should do in the current circumstances, and how they can stay safe. She mentioned that one of her family members had said goodbye to her due to the existing conditions.

Caroline Levitt, the White House spokesperson, responded by stating that the priority of the U.S. President is to send clear messages to the people of this country and emphasized that Washington has addressed the "immediate threat" posed by the military forces of the Islamic Republic against the U.S. and its allies. She added that the United States has entered a new round of negotiations with what she described as the "new government" and parties in contact to reach an agreement that would create long-term stability in the Middle East.

Shirazi further pointed out the contradiction between the advice to stay home and simultaneously "take back the country," asking for clarification, but Levitt reiterated the focus on continuing negotiations and striving for long-term peace in the region, including for the people of Iran.

الینا شیرازی، خبرنگار دیلی میل، چهارشنبه ۱۹ فروردین‌ در نشست خبری کاخ سفید با اشاره به شرایط خانواده‌اش در ایران پرسید مردم ایران در وضعیت فعلی چه باید بکنند و چگونه در امان بمانند. او گفت یکی از اعضای خانواده‌اش به‌دلیل شرایط موجود با او خداحافظی کرده است.

کارولین لویت، سخنگوی کاخ سفید، در پاسخ گفت اولویت رئیس‌جمهوری آمریکا ارسال پیام‌های روشن به مردم این کشور است و درباره ایران نیز تاکید کرد که واشنگتن «تهدید فوری» ناشی از نیروهای نظامی جمهوری اسلامی علیه آمریکا و متحدانش را برطرف کرده است.
او افزود ایالات متحده وارد دور تازه‌ای از مذاکرات با آنچه «حکومت جدید» و طرف‌های در تماس توصیف کرد شده تا به توافقی برسد که ثبات بلندمدت در خاورمیانه ایجاد کند.

شیرازی در ادامه به تناقض میان توصیه ماندن در خانه و همزمان «پس گرفتن کشور» اشاره کرد و خواستار توضیح شد، اما لویت بار دیگر بر ادامه مذاکرات و تلاش برای دستیابی به صلح بلندمدت در منطقه، از جمله برای مردم ایران، تاکید کرد.
