While no images or sounds of Mojtaba Khamenei, the third leader of the Islamic Republic, have been released since the onset of the attacks by Israel and the U.S. and the death of Ali Khamenei, Saeed Khatibzadeh, the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, announced in an interview with BBC Radio that he is in "perfect health." Khatibzadeh claimed that he is "present in his office" and has everything under control. It is unclear what Khatibzadeh means by "office."

سعید خطیب‌زاده، معاون وزارت خارجه گفت که جمهوری اسلامی دیشب در آستانه پاسخ به نقض آتش‌بس بود، اما پاکستان مداخله کرد و پیام‌هایی را مبنی بر کنترل اسرائیل از سوی آمریکا منتقل کرد.»
او ادامه داد: «هیئت ایرانی راهی مذاکرات در اسلام‌آباد خواهد شد. آمریکا بر اساس تعهد خود باید حملات اسرائیل به لبنان را متوقف کند.»
او افزود: «هرگونه صلح در منطقه باید شامل لبنان باشد و ساعات آینده بسیار حیاتی است.»

خطیب‌زاده مدعی شد که او «در دفتر کار خود» حضور دارد و کنترل همه چیز را در دست دارد. مشخص نیست که منظور خطیب‌زاده از «دفتر کار»، دقیقا کجاست.
