The Wall Street Journal reported, citing three American officials, that two U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday. This is the first passage of U.S. warships through this waterway since the start of the war.

According to the report, no issues were recorded during this passage, and the action was described as a mission for freedom of navigation. The officials stated that the destroyers were not escorting commercial vessels.

This action coincided with the meeting of U.S. and Islamic Republic negotiating teams in Pakistan to discuss ending the war. Donald Trump emphasized that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz should be part of the ceasefire agreement.

روزنامه وال استریت ژورنال به نقل از سه مقام آمریکایی گزارش داد دو ناوشکن مجهز به موشک هدایت‌شونده نیروی دریایی آمریکا روز شنبه از تنگه هرمز عبور کردند. این نخستین عبور ناوهای جنگی آمریکا از این آبراه از زمان آغاز جنگ است.

بر اساس این گزارش، مشکلی در جریان این عبور ثبت نشد و این اقدام به عنوان ماموریت آزادی ناوبری توصیف شد. این مقام‌ها گفتند این ناوشکن‌ها کشتی‌های تجاری را اسکورت نمی‌کردند.

این اقدام هم‌زمان با دیدار تیم‌های مذاکره‌کننده آمریکا و جمهوری اسلامی در پاکستان برای گفت‌وگو درباره پایان جنگ انجام شد. دونالد ترامپ تاکید کرد که بازگشایی تنگه هرمز باید بخشی از توافق آتش‌بس باشد.
