The Iranian Minister of Communications stated in a meeting with his deputies, "If we consider the issue of internet outages from the perspective of security risks, it is essential to provide access to the internet for all people without classification and a whitelist."

He also claimed, "Class-based internet or whitelists have no relevance, and quality access to the global internet network is the right of all people," expressing hope that this goal would be achieved in the shortest possible time.

This statement by Setar Hashemi comes amid numerous reports in recent days about efforts to grant internet access to certain other groups. The most notable case is the registration of economic activists for a subscription known as "Internet Pro," which has also been confirmed by the Iran Trade News Agency.

وزیر ارتباطات دولت ایران در جلسه‌ای با معاونان خود گفت «اگر به موضوع قطعی اینترنت از منظر مخاطرات امنیتی نیز توجه شود، ضرورت دارد دسترسی همه مردم بدون طبقه‌بندی و لیست سفید به اینترنت فراهم شود».

او همچنین ادعا کرد: «اینترنت طبقاتی یا لیست سفید موضوعیتی ندارد و دسترسی باکیفیت به شبکهٔ اینترنت جهانی حق همه مردم است» و ابراز امیدواری کرد این هدف در کوتاه‌ترین زمان محقق شود.

این ادعای ستار هاشمی در حالی است که در روزهای اخیر گزارش‌های متعددی از اقدام برای دسترسی برخی گروه‌های دیگر به اینترنت منتشر شده است.
شاخص‌ترین مورد، ثبت‌نام فعالان اقتصادی برای دریافت اشتراک موسوم به «اینترنت پرو» است که اتفاق بازرگانی ایران نیز آن را تأیید کرده است.
