Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, announced in a video message on Saturday night, April 29, that control of the Strait of Hormuz is in the hands of the Islamic Republic, and if the opposing party continues its actions, maritime traffic in this route could face restrictions.
He claimed that the Islamic Republic stood firm against the actions of a minesweeper vessel during a naval confrontation with the U.S. Navy that coincided with negotiations in Pakistan, describing it as a "violation of the ceasefire."
According to Qalibaf, after the warning from the Islamic Republic, the opposing party retreated.
Qalibaf also described the blockade announced by the U.S. as "impractical" and stated that he would not allow a situation to arise where other countries could pass through the strait while Iran would be deprived of this route.
These statements come at a time when government supporters on social media had expressed dissatisfaction with Abbas Araghchi's message on the social media platform X.

محمدباقر قالیباف، رئیس مجلس شورای اسلامی، شنبه شب ۲۹ فروردین در یک پیام ویدیویی اعلام کرد که کنترل تنگه هرمز در اختیار جمهوری اسلامی است و در صورت ادامه اقدامات طرف مقابل، تردد دریایی در این مسیر می‌تواند با محدودیت مواجه شود.
او با اشاره به یک رویارویی نیروی دریایی سپاه با ارتش آمریکا هم زمان با مذاکرات در پاکستان اتفاقا افتاد مدعی شد که جمهوری اسلامی در برابر اقدام یک شناور مین‌روب ایستادگی کرده و آن را «نقض آتش‌بس» دانسته است.
به گفته قالیباف، پس از هشدار جمهوری اسلامی، طرف مقابل عقب‌نشینی کرده است.
قالیباف همچنین محاصره اعلام‌شده از سوی آمریکا را «غیرعملی» توصیف کرد و گفت اجازه نخواهد داد شرایطی ایجاد شود که دیگر کشورها از تنگه عبور کنند اما ایران از این مسیر محروم شود.
این اظهارات در حالی مطرح می‌شود که هم‌زمان طرفداران حکومتی در شبکه های اجتماعی از پیام عباس عراقچی در شبکه اجتماعی ایکس ابراز نارضایتی کرده بودند.
