Tokyo Gas announced that for the first time since 1980, it will increase the fixed portion of gas bills for its customers. According to the company, the monthly bill for an average household will rise by about 2.6% starting in October.

Tokyo Gas stated that this increase is intended to compensate for higher costs associated with maintaining services, information systems, call centers, and the safety of gas equipment. The variable portion of gas and electricity bills in Japan is also adjusted monthly based on changes in the prices of imported fuels.

This decision comes as households and businesses in Japan are facing rising inflation, with the Middle East conflict driving up the costs of gasoline, electricity, and imported energy.

In recent weeks, the Japanese government has increased its oil imports from the United States to reduce its dependence on Middle Eastern energy.

شرکت توکیو گاز اعلام کرد برای نخستین‌بار از سال ۱۹۸۰، بخش ثابت قبض گاز مشترکان را افزایش می‌دهد. بر اساس اعلام این شرکت، قبض ماهانه یک خانوار معمولی از ماه اکتبر حدود ۲.۶ درصد افزایش خواهد یافت.

توکیو گاز گفته این افزایش برای جبران هزینه‌های بالاتر نگهداری خدمات، سامانه‌های اطلاعاتی، مراکز تماس و ایمنی تجهیزات گاز انجام می‌شود. بخش متغیر قبض گاز و برق در ژاپن نیز ماهانه بر اساس تغییر قیمت سوخت‌های وارداتی تنظیم می‌شود.

این تصمیم در حالی اعلام شده که خانوارها و کسب‌وکارهای ژاپنی با افزایش تورم روبه‌رو هستند و جنگ خاورمیانه هزینه بنزین، برق و انرژی وارداتی را بالا برده است.

دولت ژاپن در هفته‌های اخیر در راستای کاهش وابستگی خود به انرژی خاورمیانه، واردات نفت از آمریکا را افزایش داده است.
