The Chancellor of Germany claimed on Monday, April 26, that the United States has been "humiliated" by Iran and warned that this conflict will not end anytime soon. Friedrich Merz, during a visit to a school in the city of Marsberg, Germany, said: "The Iranians are clearly stronger than expected, and the Americans apparently have no truly convincing strategy in the negotiations." He added, "The problem with such conflicts is that it's not enough to just get into them; one must also be able to get out of them. We painfully saw this in Afghanistan over 20 years. The same goes for Iraq." Merz stated, "The United States has clearly entered this war without any strategy," making it more difficult to end the conflict. According to the Chancellor of Germany, "A very complex situation has currently arisen, and this costs us a lot. This conflict, this war against Iran, has a direct impact on our economic production."

Friedrich Merz, the Chancellor of Germany, on Monday, March 26, commented on developments in Iran, stating that the leadership of the Islamic Republic, particularly what is referred to as the Revolutionary Guard, has humiliated an entire nation. According to Reuters, Merz, during a Q&A session at a university, criticized the U.S. military approach in the war with the Islamic Republic, saying: "I do not see (understand) the U.S. strategy for exiting the war with Iran." A few months ago, following the massacre of thousands during the national revolution of Iranians in January 2025, he stated that the Islamic Republic has only a few weeks or months left to live. In the same session, in response to a question, he said: "The Iranians negotiate skillfully and are clearly stronger than we thought." The Chancellor of Germany, who is considered one of the closest European leaders to Donald Trump and has not directly condemned the U.S. and Israeli war against the Islamic Republic, called for an immediate end to hostilities in the Middle East due to its impact on the German economy.

صدراعظم آلمان روز دوشنبه هفتم اردیبهشت مدعی شد که ایالات متحده توسط ایران «تحقیر شده» و هشدار داد که این درگیری به‌زودی پایان نخواهد یافت.
فریدریش مرتس در جریان بازدید از یک مدرسه در شهر مارسبِرگ آلمان، گفت: «ایرانی‌ها به‌وضوح قوی‌تر از آن چیزی هستند که انتظار می‌رفت و آمریکایی‌ها هم ظاهراً هیچ راهبرد واقعاً قانع‌کننده‌ای در مذاکرات ندارند».
او افزود: «مشکل چنین درگیری‌هایی همیشه این است که فقط وارد شدن به آن‌ها کافی نیست، بلکه باید بتوان از آن‌ها خارج هم شد. ما این را به‌طور دردناکی در افغانستان طی ۲۰ سال دیدیم. در عراق هم همین‌طور».
مرتس گفت: «ایالات متحده به‌وضوح بدون هیچ استراتژی وارد این جنگ شده است»، و این موضوع پایان دادن به درگیری را دشوارتر کرده است.
به گفته صدراعظم آلمان، «در حال حاضر وضعیت بسیار پیچیده‌ای ایجاد شده است و این برای ما هزینه زیادی دارد. این درگیری، این جنگ علیه ایران، تأثیر مستقیمی بر تولید اقتصادی ما دارد».

فردریش مرتس، صدراعظم آلمان روز دوشنبه هفتم اسفند درباره تحولات ایران گفت رهبری جمهوری اسلامی و به‌ویژه آنچه سپاه پاسداران خوانده می‌شود، تمام یک ملت را تحقیر کردند.
به گزارش خبرگزاری رویترز، مرتس در جلسه پرسش و پاسخ در دانشگاه  با انتقاد از رویکرد نظامی آمریکا در جنگ با جمهوری اسلامی گفت: «من استراتژی آمریکا برای خروج از جنگ با ایران را نمی‌بینم (درک نمی‌کنم)»
مرتس چند ماه پیش و پس از کشتار هزاران نفر در جریان انقلاب ملی ایرانیان در دی‌ماه ۱۴۰۴ گفته بود چند هفته یا چند ماه بیشتر به عمر جمهوری اسلامی باقی نمانده است.
صدراعظم آلمان در همین نشست و در پاسخ به پرسشی گفت: «ایرانی‌ها ماهرانه مذاکره می‌کنند و به‌وضوح از آنچه ما می‌پنداشتیم قوی‌تر هستند.»
صدراعظم آلمان که یکی از نزدیک‌ترین رهبران اروپا به دونالد ترامپ به شمار می‌رود و جنگ آمریکا و اسرائیل علیه جمهوری اسلامی را مستقیما محکوم نکرده، خواستار پایان فوری مخاصمات در خاورمیانه شد به‌دلیل تاثیرات آن بر اقتصاد آلمان شد.
