The government news agency Fars reported on Sunday evening, May 2, that Tehran's 14-point proposal to Washington does not include "a 15-year halt to enrichment or the liberation of the Strait of Hormuz." Fars, rejecting a recent Al Jazeera report regarding the contents of Iran's proposal to the U.S., cited "sources from Fars reporter" stating that issues such as the 15-year halt to enrichment, the resolution of 60% uranium, and the gradual liberation of the Strait of Hormuz are related to twenty days ago, and since then "the U.S. has updated its proposal three more times." This report comes as Donald Trump had previously stated that Iran's proposal was "unacceptable." At the same time, Ismail Baqaei, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced on Sunday evening that a new proposal from the American side had been received and stated that Tehran is currently reviewing Washington's new proposal.

خبرگزاری حکومتی فارس، شامگاه یکشنبه ۱۳ اردیبهشت ماه، در گزارشی اعلام کرد پیشنهادی ۱۴ ماده‌ای تهران به واشنگتن شامل «توقف ۱۵ ساله غنی‌سازی یا آزادسازی تنگه هرمز» نمی‌شود.
فارس با رد گزارش اخیر الجزیره در مورد مفاد پیشنهادی ایران به آمریکا به نقل از «شنیده‌های خبرنگار فارس» نوشت، مواردی از قبیل توقف ۱۵ ساله غنی‌سازی و تعیین‌تکلیف اورانیوم ۶۰ درصد و آزادسازی تدریجی تنگه هرمز مربوط به بیست روز پیش است و از آن زمان تا به حال «آمریکا ۳ بار دیگر پیشنهاد خود را به‌روز کرده است.»
این گزارش در حالی منتشر می‌شود که پیشتر، دونالد ترامپ از «غیرقابل قبول» بودن پیشنهاد ایران خبر داده بود.
همزمان اسماعیل بقایی، سخنگوی وزارت امور خارجه، شامگاه یکشنبه از دریافت پیشنهاد جدید طرف آمریکایی خبر داد و اعلام کرد تهران در حال بررسی پیشنهاد جدید واشنگتن است.
