Admiral Brad Cooper, the head of the U.S. Central Command, announced on Monday evening, May 3, that U.S. forces have destroyed six small Iranian boats that he claimed were "threatening commercial vessels."
Cooper told reporters that as the U.S. operation to secure shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz began, American forces also intercepted cruise missiles and drones launched by Iran.
He emphasized that U.S. forces are conducting "purely defensive operations" and added that no American ships or vessels have come under fire from Iran.

دریاسالار برد کوپر، رییس ستاد فرماندهی ارتش آمریکا، سنتکام، عصر دوشنبه ۱۴ اردیبهشت اعلام کرد نیروهای آمریکایی شش قایق کوچک ایرانی را که به گفته او «کشتی‌های تجاری را تهدید می‌کردند» منهدم کرده‌اند.
کوپر به خبرنگاران گفت هم‌زمان با آغاز عملیات ایالات متحده برای آزادسازی تردد کشتی‌ها در تنگه هرمز، نیروهای آمریکایی همچنین موشک‌های کروز و پهپادهای شلیک‌شده از سوی ایران را رهگیری کرده‌اند.
او تاکید کرد نیروهای آمریکایی در حال اجرای «عملیاتی صرفا دفاعی» هستند و افزود هیچ کشتی یا شناور آمریکایی هدف آتش ایران قرار نگرفته است.
