Donald Trump, the President of the United States, stated in an interview with PBS News that the war with Iran has a "very good chance of ending" and expressed hope that Washington may be close to an agreement with Tehran. He mentioned that this agreement could involve the export of highly enriched uranium from Iran to the U.S.

Trump, referring to the negotiation process, added: "I feel we are close to an agreement, but I have felt that way before, so we will see what happens." He deemed it unlikely that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would be sent to the negotiations and mentioned that an agreement to end the war might be reached before his trip to China next week.

The U.S. President warned that if the negotiations fail, military options would still be on the table. He stated that if the war does not end, "we will have to bomb them very hard again."

These remarks came just hours after Trump announced on Truth Social that the mission to escort commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz would be temporarily halted, as countries are getting closer to an agreement.

دونالد ترامپ، رییس‌جمهوری آمریکا، در گفت‌وگو با شبکه پی‌بی‌اس نیوز اعلام کرد جنگ با ایران «شانس بسیار خوبی برای پایان یافتن» دارد و ابراز امیدواری کرد واشینگتن به توافقی با تهران نزدیک شده باشد. او گفت این توافق می‌تواند شامل صادرات اورانیوم با غنای بالا از سوی ایران به آمریکا باشد.

ترامپ با اشاره به روند مذاکرات افزود: «احساس می‌کنم به توافق نزدیک شده‌ایم، اما قبلاً هم چنین احساسی داشتم، بنابراین باید دید چه می‌شود.» او احتمال اعزام استیو ویتکاف و جرد کوشنر به مذاکرات را بعید دانست و گفت ممکن است پیش از سفر هفته آینده‌اش به چین، توافقی برای پایان جنگ حاصل شود.

رییس‌جمهوری آمریکا هشدار داد در صورت شکست مذاکرات، گزینه نظامی همچنان روی میز خواهد بود. او گفت اگر جنگ پایان نیابد «باید دوباره آن‌ها را به‌شدت بمباران کنیم.»

این اظهارات ساعاتی پس از آن مطرح شد که ترامپ در شبکه تروث سوشال اعلام کرد ماموریت اسکورت کشتی‌های تجاری در تنگه هرمز موقتاً متوقف می‌شود، زیرا کشورها به توافق نزدیک‌تر شده‌اند.
