The Israeli army targeted the commander of the elite "Radwan" unit of Hezbollah in an airstrike on the Dahieh area, southern suburbs of Beirut, on Wednesday afternoon.

This is the first attack on the outskirts of Beirut since the ceasefire established on April 16 between Israel and Hezbollah, although clashes in southern Lebanon have not stopped.

In a joint statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said: "Radwan operatives led by this commander were responsible for firing at residential areas in Israel and harming Israeli army forces."
According to a source close to Hezbollah, AFP reported that "Malik Ballout, the operations commander in the Radwan unit," was killed in this attack.

ارتش اسرائیل عصر روز چهارشنبه در حمله هوایی به منطقه ضاحیه، حومه جنوبی بیروت، که تحت نفوذ حزب‌الله است، فرمانده یگان نخبه «رضوان» این گروه را هدف قرار داد.

این نخستین حمله به حومه بیروت از زمان آتش‌بسی بود که روز ۲۷ فروردین بین اسرائیل و حزب‌الله برقرار شد، هرچند درگیری‌ها در جنوب لبنان متوقف نشده است.

در بیانیه مشترک بنیامین نتانیاهو، نخست‌وزیر اسرائیل، و یسرائیل کاتس، وزیر دفاع، آمده است: «عوامل رضوان به رهبری این فرمانده مسئول شلیک به مناطق مسکونی اسرائیل و آسیب رساندن به نیروهای ارتش اسرائیل بودند.»
خبرگزاری فرانسه به نقل از یک منبع نزدیک به حزب‌الله اعلام کرد که «مالک بلّوط، فرمانده عملیات در یگان رضوان» در این حمله کشته شده است.
