Jean-Noël Barrot, the French Foreign Minister, announced that no sanctions against Tehran will be lifted as long as the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked by the forces of the Islamic Republic.

In an interview with the "RTL" network, he stated: "We have imposed significant sanctions on Iran ourselves. However, as long as the Strait of Hormuz is blocked, the lifting of any sanctions is inconceivable." Barrot added: "This strait cannot be closed, subjected to tariffs, or used as a tool for pressure and extortion."

He also emphasized that France should not find itself in a position where it has to bear the costs of wars it did not initiate. According to him, Europe must reduce its dependence on oil, hydrocarbons, and digital technologies to become less involved in crises and conflicts in which it is not directly a party.

ژان-نوئل بارو، وزیر خارجه فرانسه اعلام کرد تا زمانی که تنگه هرمز توسط نیروهای جمهوری اسلامی مسدود باشد، هیچ تحریمی علیه تهران لغو نخواهد شد.

او در گفت‌وگو با شبکه «آر‌ال‌تی» گفت: «ما خودمان تحریم‌های مهمی علیه ایران اعمال کرده‌ایم. اما تا زمانی که تنگه هرمز مسدود باشد، لغو هیچ‌گونه تحریمی قابل تصور نیست.»
بارو افزود: «این تنگه نمی‌تواند بسته شود، مشمول عوارض گردد یا به‌عنوان ابزار فشار و باج‌گیری استفاده شود.»

او همچنین تأکید کرد فرانسه نباید دوباره در موقعیتی قرار بگیرد که مجبور شود هزینه جنگ‌هایی را بپردازد که خود آغاز نکرده است.
به گفته او، اروپا باید وابستگی خود به نفت، هیدروکربن‌ها و فناوری‌های دیجیتال را کاهش دهد تا کمتر درگیر بحران‌ها و درگیری‌هایی شود که مستقیماً طرف آن نیست.
