CENTCOM, the United States Central Command, announced that since the start of the maritime blockade until Friday, May 6, it has prevented the entry or exit of more than 70 oil tankers from Iranian ports.

In its latest message on the social media platform X, CENTCOM stated that these commercial vessels have the capacity to carry over 166 million barrels of Iranian oil, estimated to be worth more than $13 billion.

This announcement came just hours after the U.S. military reported that its forces intercepted "unprovoked" Iranian attacks against American destroyers in the Strait of Hormuz early Friday morning and, in response, targeted "Iranian military facilities."

سنتکام، فرماندهی مرکزی ایالات متحده، اعلام کرد از زمان آغاز محاصره دریایی تا روز جمعه، ۱۸ اردیبهشت مانع از ورود یا خروج بیش از ۷۰ نفتکش از بنادر ایران شده است.

سنتکام در پیام تازه‌اش در شبکه اجتماعی ایکس نوشته که این کشتی‌های تجاری ظرفیت حمل بیش از ۱۶۶ میلیون بشکه نفت ایران به ارزش تخمینی بیش از ۱۳ میلیارد دلار را دارند.

این موضوع ساعاتی پس از آن اعلام شد که ارتش آمریکا گفت نیروهایش در نخستین ساعات بامداد جمعه حملات «تحریک‌نشدهٔ» ایران علیه ناوشکن‌های آمریکایی در تنگه هرمز را رهگیری کرده و در پاسخ، «تأسیسات نظامی ایران» را هدف قرار دادند.
