Donald Trump, on his Truth Social account, shared a simulated image of the destruction of an Iranian drone by a U.S. Navy laser weapon, likening the downing of Islamic Republic drones to a "butterfly falling toward its grave."

In response to the nighttime clashes of destroyers in the Strait of Hormuz, he referred to the exchange of fire as merely a "love tap" and emphasized that the fragile ceasefire in the region remains in effect.

The weapon Trump is referring to is the LOCUST (Low-Cost UAV Swarming Technology) anti-drone laser system, which has previously been reported to be installed and tested on the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush. According to the website "War Zone," this is the first time a directed energy weapon has been installed on a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier.

High-ranking Navy officials have stated that their ultimate goal is to turn these advanced weapons into the primary option for countering close threats in international waters.

او در واکنش به درگیری‌های شبانه ناوشکن‌ها در تنگه هرمز، این تبادل آتش را تنها یک «سیلی از روی محبت» (Love tap) خواند و تاکید کرد که آتش‌بس شکننده منطقه همچنان برقرار است.

سلاحی که ترامپ به آن اشاره می‌کند،سامانه لیزری ضد پهپاد «لوکاست» (LOCUST) است که پیش‌تر اعلام شد بر روی ناو هواپیمابر «یواس‌اس جورج اچ.دبلیو. بوش» نصب و آزمایش شده است.
به گزارش وب‌سایت «وار زون»، این نخستین بار است که یک سلاح انرژی هدایت‌شده روی یک ناو هواپیمابر کلاس نیمیتز نصب می‌شود.

مقامات عالی‌رتبه نیروی دریایی اعلام کرده‌اند که هدف نهایی آن‌ها، تبدیل این سلاح‌های پیشرفته به گزینه اصلی مقابله با تهدیدات نزدیک در آب‌های بین‌المللی است.
