Ehsan Shirkhani, a 35-year-old citizen from Malekan County in East Azerbaijan Province, lost his life in the early hours of Tuesday, May 11, 2026, due to direct gunfire from the Basij forces at a checkpoint in Bonab County.

According to a report received by IranWire, the forces stationed at the Basij checkpoint in Bonab targeted this citizen's vehicle under the pretext of "not heeding the stop order." An informed source told IranWire that the Basij forces, without adhering to the law on the use of firearms and without firing warning shots, shot directly at the passenger compartment of the vehicle. According to this source, four bullets struck Ehsan Shirkhani, and he died instantly.

احسان شیرخانی، شهروند ۳۵ ساله اهل شهرستان ملکان در استان آذربایجان شرقی، بامداد روز سه‌شنبه ۲۲ اردیبهشت ۱۴۰۵، با شلیک مستقیم نیروهای بسیج در ایست بازرسی شهرستان بناب جان خود را از دست داد.

بر اساس گزارش رسیده به ایران‌وایر، نیروهای مستقر در ایست بازرسی بسیج شهرستان بناب، خودروی این شهروند را به بهانه «عدم توجه به دستور ایست» هدف تیراندازی مستقیم قرار داده‌اند.
یک منبع مطلع در این‌باره به ایران‌وایر گفت که نیروهای بسیج بدون رعایت قانون به‌کارگیری سلاح و بدون شلیک تیر هوایی، مستقیما به سمت اتاق خودرو تیراندازی کرده‌اند. به گفته این منبع، چهار گلوله به احسان شیرخانی اصابت کرده و او در دم جان باخته است.
