The Judiciary of the Islamic Republic announced on Wednesday evening, May 23, that Mohammad Abbasi, one of the detainees from the protests last December, has been executed on charges of killing a security officer.

The Mizan news agency, affiliated with this judiciary, stated that he was "retributed" after the confirmation of the sentence by the Supreme Court and considering the "request of the blood relatives."

Earlier, the news site HRANA reported, citing a source close to the family of this prisoner, that the officials of Qezel Hesar prison asked Mohammad Abbasi's family to come to the prison for a visit, "but after the family arrived at the prison, this opportunity was denied to his relatives. After the Abbasi family left the prison, they were informed via a phone call about the execution of Mohammad Abbasi."

قوه قضائیه جمهوری اسلامی شامگاه چهارشنبه ۲۳ اردیبهشت اعلام کرد که محمد عباسی، یکی از بازداشت‌شدگان اعتراضات دی‌ماه سال گذشته به اتهام قتل یک مأمور امنیتی اعدام شده است.

خبرگزاری میزان، وابسته به این قوه، گفته است که او بعد از تأیید حکم توسط دیوان‌عالی کشور و با توجه به «تقاضای اولیا‌ء دم»، «قصاص» شد.

ساعتی پیش‌تر، پایگاه خبری هرانا به نقل از یک منبع نزدیک به خانواده این زندانی نوشت که مسئولان زندان قزلحصار از خانواده محمد عباسی خواستند که برای ملاقات با او به زندان مراجعه کنند، «اما پس از حضور خانواده در زندان، این امکان از نزدیکان او سلب شد. پس از خروج خانواده عباسی از زندان، آنها در تماسی تلفنی از اجرای حکم اعدام محمد عباسی مطلع شدند.»
